@ xiphophilos From what I have read, RCA began to scale back its production of 78s records in mid-1957 and was only releasing records that it knew would sell on the format towards the end of their production run in October of 1958 (and was apparently releasing 78s out of sequence in terms of their catalog numbers). The only RCA artists I have on 78 after May of 1957 are Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Jim Reeves, Hank Locklin, Don Gibson, and Sammy Salvo. I have seen a few RCA 78s by Bill Carle, Kenny Ottey, The Ames Brothers, and Prez Prado that were released into 1958 however. Supposedly, Roy Orbison released an RCA 78 in the US in October of 1958 as well.

Thanks for adding the image, Matthew, and thanks, scrough, for editing it! This record was Sammy Salvo's one really big hit (he did have a couple smaller hits as well, but never made it really big).

Strange that this is the only U.S. 78rpm copy anywhere on the internet; most U.S. copies of this record are 45s. I guess there weren't that many holdouts in the U.S. who still bought 78s as late as November 1957. The British 78rpm release, in contrast, is comparatively common.

@xiphophilos Sure thing. I could post a picture of the A-side tomorrow.

@Matthew Rose: No one, for sure, has yet placed a picture of the A side of the 78rpm version of this Sammy Salvo record online. So it would be great if you could supply one from your copy.

This was "Oh Julie" that the Crescendos had the hit with. It seems some copies had "Julie" and others "Oh Julie".

The B-side of this record is one of my favorites! I think my copy might be the only known US pressing in existence.
