Images [ +2 more ] Comments and Reviews xiphophilos 5th May 2024 The history of the "Americana" series and the reason and date for the A prefix has now been added to the series profile .
LaurenceD's copy without A prefix on the A side, but the original A-prefix on the B side is from the transitional time in late October 1947, when Capitol had just dropped its letter prefixes again (starting in July 1947, they had used A for "Americana" and B for Pop) and were using up already printed older labels. Jesse Hale1 30th Jan 2019 Americana was devoted to "true" roots music, C&W and R&B acts, save for the Nat King Cole Trio and Nat solo. Americana was scrapped in 1948. Groovy-45worlds 30th Oct 2015 My copy has A40028 on A & B. But A1 side only has "Snatch And Grab It" on it. If you look at this one:
https://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/record/40142
they dropped the word 'Americana' and retained the red label
By 40225 they added the 57 prefix and went to a purple label

Could this have been a transition pressing a few years after the first pressing?
KeithS SUBS4th Feb 2013 Disc number 40028 and A side?????? LaurenceD SUBS ● 4th Feb 2013 For some unknown reason, my copy is numbered A40028 on one side only.
