| han enderman 22nd Jul 2023 | Essex 310 - There are 3 label types in Essex's main 300 series: 1) Essex 303-317 have an address on label. When Essex moved to 3208 S. 84th St., Phila. (address in Gart, ARLD, in 4/53, pres. from Billboard), they made new labels without address. This agrees with a release date of 1/53 for Essex 311. 2) I assume that about this time Essex repressed 309-311 without address, with a pale label with a black ring and a different logo, with 'Records' above the hole. 3) Then they choose, for new (re)issues, a new orange label without address, with the original logo and additional text at 9 (Publisher & mx) and 3 (mfgd. by Palda in Phila.). A repressing of 303 (on discogs) has this label type. In addition there are disc jockey labels. | |
| Antoon Van Olderen SUBS 21st Jul 2023 | Added pictures of light yellow alternate Essex label pressings. Matrix numbers imprinted in shellac "E310 A" and "E310 B". Is there any information about these pressings? | |
| 23skidoo 2nd Apr 2023 | Interestingly according to 45cat this was released on 45 in September.. I didn't think the separated out the dates like that. Is November or September confirmed for release? This was the first single to be released under the Comets name but it took another year or so for them to start using "Bill Haley and the Comets" (or "His Comets") on the labels. | |
