 Here's something that the original submitter 78rpm-maniac (not 78rpmfan) had added to the record notes where it regretfully doesn't belong:
"A German cover version of Harry Belafonte's Island In The Sun, done by Caterina Valente on Polydor Records. Kurt Feltz was a German composer and song lyricist who wrote a lot of lyrics for cover versions mostly for Polydor artists."

As the chart notations illustrate, another cover of the song with the same German lyrics, this time sung by Ralf Bendix, made Germany's Top 10 in Nov 1957, not on Polydor though, but on Electrola.

 Although 78rpmfan proposed that "the year of this record is 1958", the A-side made the German Top 10 in November 1957, see http://www.wbrnet.info/db/D001.html, so I'll add this as the release month until we know it was released even earlier in 1957.

Something that has been settled on 45cat some years ago: We don't have to use English capitalization for the German language, and the auto-capitalization system has been deactivated for German.
