slholzer ● 11th Oct 2015		I am surprised that no one mentioned this previously. After spending quite some time in the Mercury listings here and elsewhere lately it has become readily apparent to me that the YB prefix is used to designate a 78 rpm mx while the corresponding 45 rpm mx is marked by a YW prefix. The two objects would be physically different, since they are essentially metal versions of the finished record product. If they are to be identified to the recording that the number element represents but distinguished from one another the prefix would be a necessary and effective addition, far less confusing than assigning a new number to the same recording for each new format in which it is to be pressed and sold.



slholzer ● 11th Mar 2015		After reviewing my photos under magnification, I find that I concur with the 10745 number on Side A. The prefix shown on the label is unquestionably YB on my copy.



fixbutte 10th Mar 2015		Hugo Peretti And His Orchestra added to the notes, also that is already on 45cat. The labels there, however, show that the matrix number of the A-side is rather [YW]10745. Discogs also has label images for the 78rpm record, with YB10745 as well.
