 Ruth Brown's debut for Atlantic Records, recorded with the orchestra of veteran jazz guitarist and club owner, Eddie Condon, is an explicit jazz recording in a Dinah Washington style that was a good way off her later raunchy R&B singles. Anyway it became a #4 R&B hit and thus a cornerstone of "the house that Ruth built", as Atlantic Records was called in the 1950s because Ruth Brown's many hits records were so vital for the success of the label. She would end up placing 24 of her Atlantic recordings on the R&B charts (six of them also making the Pop charts).
