| | This label, and these artists sound like they have a real story to tell, and could be the basis of a music documentary. |

| | That is a great song, thanks for uploading it! According to Google Translate, the Xhosa word "Phakamile" means "watching" in English. |

| | Well stone the proverbial crows!
....It worked!
Imported my CD recording (played at 45rpm) into Audacity, then simply highlt the track, selected: "Effect" > "Change Speed", then selected the two elements in the drop-down boxes:
a) recording speed (45), then: b) desired speed (78).
then finally exported the file as mp3.
I like it when things are simple... and work the way you want them to! :)
And seems like my policy of just grabbing anything that looks interesting pays off, as the info and links you posted, xiph, may make this the most interesting record I've ever bought!
(Thanks for that)
Hear it here, enjoy.
((only did the A-side...and it's a bit "hissy", as I forgot to clean it before recording...doh)) |

| | There is a brief bio with photo of Mabel Mafuya on Facebook:
Mabel Mafuya was born in 1934 in Soweto, Transvaal, South Africa as Nozipho Mabel Mafuya. As an actress she was known for Dangerous Ground (1997) and Sweet 'n Short (1991). She was a singer from the mid-1950s, being one of South Africa’s top-selling jive vocalists at Troubadour.
Much more extensive background on her recordings for Troubadour is available online at:
http://electricjive.blogspot.com/2012/07/mabel-mafuya-on-78-rpm-1956-1960.html
Based on the catalog number, I'd guess this is one of Mabel Mafuya's earliest releases for Troubadour, from 1956 or 1957. |

| | I was quite pleased to find it... everything about it is intriguing.
Any ideas about the Who, What, Why, When, and Where-fores of this label / artist etc?
Can't seem to find much on the net about these things. |
