On Discogs, this record has sold 10 times within the last 6 years, for prices ranging from $3.05 for a Good copy to $13.17 for a VG copy, but several VG+ copies went for around $6. Median price was $9.30 (£7.35), so less than half of the £18 valuation for a VG copy given here as an "Opinion."

Another valuation based on someone's "opinion", or is it rather a wish to make one's own overblown price idea on eBay look like reasonable?

Someone is, in fact, currently trying to sell two copies of this record on eBay for £13/each + shipping. Someone else is hoping for £19.49, and even a Good+ copy is still supposed to bring £10.95! Compared to that, a fourth offer for only £6.79 is positively modest.

The fact alone that 5 copies are currently on sale on just one site is proof enough that this is not a rare record. It couldn't be, of course, given that it was a bestselling record for several months in 1949.

I am very puzzled by the valuation here. I would never expect to pay more than say a fiver for a 78 of this type - good version though it is.
My nice copy cost £1 not long ago.

I think I used to have this when I was a, um, nipper. I have a vague memory of owning a (long-since shattered) version on HMV..

This was my dad's first ever record purchase : he didn't buy another for 2 years, and thus his copy is VERY worn! Still plays, but not easy to discern all the words!

Bought 'Riders' as soon as I could back in '49. Never off of my wind-up gramophone. Great story-line for it's time. No.1 on the Billboard Best Sellers for Eleven weeks in May/June 1949.' 'Red Roses' was a very good record in it's own right, making it a first class buy'
