Just noticed that Mike Gann's earlier label doesn't have the spelling mistake in the A-side title, it says "Trento" instead of "Triento."

Yes, Mike, your variants are Nov. 1916 represses. Any Columbia label in brown or black around this time is a repress.

When you look at nearby matrix numbers in Spottswood, you can see that 43744 was rec. NYC, Jan. 1916, 43935 rec. NYC March 1916.

Under the labels you can see the take numbers, which are also missing in Spottswood. I see 2-B-? on the A side and 1-A-? on the B side. The ? stands in for the stamper numbers, which I can't read with certainty.

In any case, when Columbia introduced this Gold Band label design in 1916, it chose the black color for represses. This one still has the phrase "Note the Notes" in the logo rather than "Grafonola", so it is from 1917. The lack of label printing codes, which were introduced toward the end of 1917, shows this is from the first half of 1917.
