xiphophilos 14th Jan 2023		The composer of the B title was Franz Martynovich Bauer (1829 Vienna - 1914 Moscow), an Austrian who came to St. Petersburg in 1851 to play zither at the court of Nicholas I. and later taught the tsar's family his instrument. Later he married Mariia Dmitrievna Petukhova, a Russian singer and harmonium player from Tula. They had seven children and lived in Archangelsk and Moscow. In Moscow, Bauer opened a zither school and published a Russian-German "Zither-Schule", a book for self-study.(source)
