rhythmdog 18th Aug 2022		The three 800 series releases are all from 1950. The earliest documented 400 releases date to 1951, so perhaps the 400 series is a continuation of the 800 series. It can't be the other way around as you suggest, though.



xiphophilos 17th Aug 2022		I would simply call it Pop, but given that Gotham G-801 is a release by Fred Kirby And The WBT Briarhoppers, what was then called a "hillbilly" band, I assume that Gotham considered the two Roy Smeck releases on Gotham G-800 and G-814 a continuation of their G 400 Folk/Country/Novelty series (in the case of Smeck, probably more Novelty than Folk).



rhythmdog 17th Aug 2022		Well, fine, what would be your choice for the series name, the, xiphophilos? (Given that apparently Gotham considered the three known examples to be "different" from the Folk/Novelty/Country series, the "400" series). The ball is metaphorically in your court at this point.. Pleae check out the two 45's linked below? I suppose it is possible that Gotham started over with the 400 series after originally getting all the way to 14 in the 800 series. There is little to no info on the missing numbers in either series...

rhythmdog 17th Aug 2022		Yet another Gotham series, although so far only two 45s 800, and 801 and this 78 are documented. Provisionally I would guess it to be the "Ethnic" series.
