stoutfellow51 29th Jun 2019		I wonder what damage those 78 rpm steel needles would have done to the vinyl pressings of this and others by the same manufacturer (Pye Group). My copy btw is vinyl as is my 78 copy of The Diamonds Little Darlin' on Mercury.

Redpunk ● 12th Dec 2017		I assume you're asking about the timing of "Putting On The Style" just timed my shellac copy and it came in at 3:20.



mister_tmg 8th Nov 2015		So as 26 people here own this, can anyone confirm the timing of their copy please? The "fade-in" version is about 3:20. But my notes indicate I did once play a 78 of this, and it was the 'usual' 3:36 length. Perhaps there were two pressings?

mister_tmg 6th Sep 2014		@suncat, I've heard that from someone else, I didn't notice it myself, but I wasn't really listening for it! This record appears to be the last UK #1 to be unavailable as a 7" 45rpm single until Culture Beat's Mr Vain in 1993. It was certainly the last UK #1 to be only available on 78rpm.

moondog 15th Oct 2013		Interesting that this record starts with an edited fade-in but re-issues on CD give the full unedited intro with Lonnie making a mess of his banjo picking.
