Contrary to most CD releases stating this album as having an original release date of 1972 it was in fact first released on vinyl in November 1971, but only in the UK and Europe.
In the USA release was held back until January 1972.
By now Mike had reached the end of his contractual obligations to Virgin and he was eager to move on to another record company.
This album, his last for Virgin, definitely has an "end of contract" feel to it and though it is workmanlike and is pleasant to listen to it certainly doesn't attempt to push any boundaries.
Very much a mixed bag collection, the dearth of decent songs available at the time meant that some of the tracks on this album would never have seen the light of day in normal circumstances.
Kiss Me Quick was lifted off the album and released as a single in Dec 1963 but failed to make the top ten.
