This song is relatively common and probably was a great hit for vaudeville singer Blanche Klaise.

Born October 3, 1892 in Philadelphia, PA, as Blanche G. Klaiss to German-born piano tuner Martin Klaiss, who immigrated to the US in 1883, and his American wife, Anna Blanche Raford, Blanche began touring the vaudeville circuit in 1916, billed as a "ragtime singer." In 1919, we find her performing in San Antonio, TX, as part of a trio with saxophonist Phil Saxe and comedian-pianist Ed "Slim" Pressler. In 1920, she married the latter and formed a very successful, nationally touring duo with him until she died of a heart thrombosis in Philadelphia on March 30, 1935, only 43 years old.

Apart from "Daddy", she made at least two earlier recordings for Cameo, "I Gave You Up" (Cameo 306) and "Don't Think You'll Be Missed" (Cameo 318), both from 1922.

Rumors kept alive by ignorant ebay sellers that Blanche Klaise was a pseudonym for black blues singer Edith Wilson are flattering, but clearly wrong. (source1), (source2), (source3).
