The second time that Tommy Dorsey recorded the song that would become his signature tune. The first version was recorded by the Dorseys on Sep 24, 1932 (Brunswick 6409, Nov 1932). Both recordings were vocal, that one sung by Jean Bowes, this one by Bob Crosby, soon-to-be leader of his own orchestra.

The melody, composed by George Bassman, is however best known in Tommy Dorsey's instrumental version of 1935 (Victor 25236), with his trombone taking over the solo voice. As written by Alec Wilder in his book, American Popular Song: The Great Innovators, 1900-1950, “Having for so long associated this music with Dorsey’s trombone, I never bothered to consider it a song. And, frankly, it isn’t one. It’s a very, very good instrumental piece, 20 measures long and with an unexpected tag.”
