VT 1740-V - 1st pressing A-side added (Jan-May patents, preceding Jan-RE patents) (should be moved up), and West Coast images (with G stamper).

Based on the take numbers, these two recordings were made Sept. 20, not Sept. 4, 1928, see https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/objects/detail/280042/Velvet_Tone_1740-V (where DAHR doesn't know which take was used for the B side) in comparison with https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/matrix/detail/2000036604/W146943-The_Bowery_bums
The parallel issue on Harmony (4) 740-H was released in November 1928, see its listing in The Talking Machine World, November 1928, page 127: The Latest Record Bulletins.

So the plant must have used up the older style of labels, and that's why both sides have different label types.

Side A uploaded, with same patent as Bob's item.

Ron, could you please upload the A side too? Your label with the 1923 patent may be earlier than Bob's label with patent RE. 16588; the latter patent was filed on April 5, 1927.(source)
