The blog seems to be dead since 2013, and Willem Agenant's 1996 book may exist as an electronic resource but not available for us as far as I see, so we still like to know how to find the quoted information.

Who is "Wilem"? Why don't you just copy and paste the url, Apes Ville?

I've now found references to a blog titled "Columbia 20000 serie" by someone called Willem Agenant, but I'm unable to find the actual blog. Unless this strange site is it: http://columbia20000series.blogspot.com/2011/03/example-post.html

That same Willem Agenant has published a discography, "Columbia 78 RPM Record Listing 20001 thru 21571 Plus Okeh Records 18001 Thru 18059," Zephyrhills, Fla: Joyce Record Club, 1996.

Columbia 20000 series info as shown on the web site of Wilem.
By the first of May 1948 CBS started the 20000 series, a separate series for hillbilly music on their red Columbia label. This series lasted until the end of October 1956. During those years CBS issued 1571 records in this series (20001 – 21571).
This blog is devoted to this Columbia 20000 series, arguably the most important series of hillbilly music. We will post the singles (78/45 rpm) issued in the series in 126 Volumes (we will we hopping through these Volumes to bring some variation in the music posted), the classic vinyl albums (10" and 12") and EP's related to the series, the stories about the artists and the discographies.
Background information
In December 1938 Columbia Broadcasting Systems (CBS) purchased the American Record Corporation (ARC). Allowing CBS the rights to use the Columbia record label name as well as Okeh.
ARC released it's hillbilly items on low priced labels including Vocalion and Conqueror, a Sears Roebuck label. The major artists included Roy Acuff, Bob Wills, Gene Autry, Bob Atcher, Al Dexter and the Prairie Ramblers (with Patsy Montana).
From December 1938, only Vocalion and Conqueror remained as cheap labels for the CBS hillbilly recordings, all other labels were discontinued. The CBS pop artists like Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Gene Krupa and Harry James were issued in the popular series on the new red Columbia label, which started with number 35201 (and ended in June 1974 with number 46081).
Art Satherley, an ARC employee at the time of the purchase, continued as the head of A&R for the hillbilly division of CBS.
In 1940 Vocalion had to be discontinued by CBS due to a violation of rights, and CBS revived the old Okeh label for their hillbilly recordings. Nearly the complete Vocalion catalog was converted to Okeh. That's the reason so many records were issued on both Vocalion and Okeh with the same catalog number.
Due to shortages, WWII saw a very limited distribution of records. After WWII CBS continued their pre-war practices. Pop music was issued in the 35000 series on the red Columbia label and hillbilly was issued on the cheap Okeh label.
However, the booming economy caused an increasing demand for records and CBS quickly ended their cheap series, including Okeh. From August 1945 hillbilly music was also issued in the popular 35000 series on the red Columbia label. This situation continued until May 1948. During these years Satherley recorded the classic Monroe sides, the first sides of Molly O'Day, Texas Ruby and the Bailes Brothers amongst others.
Between August 1945 and May 1948 a total of 425 hillbilly records were issued in the 35000 series on the red Columbia label. During the first months these records consisted of new (post-war) recordings of artists like Gene Autry, Roy Acuff, Bob Wills, Al Dexter, Texas Ruby & Curly Fox and Ted Daffan, but quite soon Satherley started using pre-war recordings for his releases. He had to. There was quite some demand for popular pre-war material. Most of the time he reissued recordings of popular artists like Bob Wills, Gene Autry, Roy Acuff and even the Carter Family. But he also reissued pre-war recordings of artists like Hank Penny, Bill Nettles and Bill Cox. The oldest recordings he used were on Columbia 37600, the Leake County Revellers with 1927 recordings.

Early 1948 CBS decided to follow Decca and started a separate series for their hillbilly music: the 20000 series on the red Columbia label. By the first of May 1948 all 425 hillbilly records, so far issued in the 35000 series (36840 - 38189), were renumbered as 20001 - 20425. The first "new" record in the 20000 series was 20426 of the Johnson Family Singers, issued on May 3th 1948.
Because of the recording ban (no recordings were made between January 1948 - December 1948) all records issued in 1948 (20426 - 20529) had been recorded in 1947 or earlier. Columbia 20530, issued on January 10th, 1949, had songs Ted Daffan recorded on December 27, 1948. Shortly after that date, when tastes changed, Satherley started recording new artists like Jimmy Dickens and George Morgan. Within some years the Columbia 20000 series would have a roster with young promising artists like Marty Robbins, Carl Smith, Lefty Frizzell and numerous others.
Due to changes related to rock 'n' roll the 20000 series was discontinued by the end of October 1956.
