He also did the compere spot on Sunday Night At The Palladium in the 70's !

Spotted this record at a charity shop (22/7/2024) on the window and paid £2 for it. It played pretty good after cleaning the dustiness of it.

Originally had this record handed down back in the 60's with another Parlophone record by Charlie Gracie playing Fabulous, a pity that was not on the window!

A comment from Jim from his site

A few years ago I walked into an old junk shop and found my first big hit song "Be My Girl" in a collection of ancient 78rpm pop records.
Me: "Wow, look at this, how much is it?"
Owner: "Four pence, same as all the others" (which is about ten cents in America)
Me: "Four pence? For a hit record by Jim Dale?"
Owner : "Who?"
Me: "Jim Dale, it's a collectors item this is. You can't sell it for four pence. It's worth a good four Pounds of anybody's money."
Owner: "OK, four Pounds then."
Me: "That's more like it." (Handing him four crisp one pound notes in exchange for a moth eaten old record).

Motto: "Never be sold cheap."

He was in Carry On Jack(also titled Carry On Venus) alongside Bernard Cribbins and Juliet Mills, and there was also an appearance by Australian Ed Devereaux.

Well I am AMAZED! I have a number of his appearances in the Carry-On series, who could forget his role as Marshall P. Nutt(love that name, play on a brand of peanuts) in "Carry On Cowboy", and now to learn he wrote "Georgie Girl" for The Seekers... mind-blowing revelation!

@Neil Forbes - Yes it is the same Jim Dale as the actor. He also was a successful songwriter. The Seekers' "Georgy Girl" was written by him.

@RC, Did he? I'm trying to work out if it's the same Jim Dale who made his debut in the Carry-On movies, playing an expectant father in "Carry On Cabbie".

Ahh that jim dale who went on to do kiddie records

I think this might be the missing Jim Dale record I was looking for. If this is the same Jim Dale, he went on to do several of the Carry-On movies after his singing career folded.
