 Fixed the matrix numbers and titles. In terms of the recording place, I followed Robert L. Campbell and Robert Pruter's Gold Seal discography. The background vocals on "That's Liberty" from the same session were by a group called "The Hollywoodsmen", which seems to support Hollywood rather than New York as the place of recording.

 Bel-Tone 0255-0256 - images added of 1st & 2nd edition - cat.nr, track details & notes have to be corrected. I have images of 2 copies of the original release (with white label Beatty), which thus is as described below by slholzer & rubedoowop. But a later pressing/printing has red labels on both sides; images from archive, which also has the music (on archive, the link to the reverse is lower on the webpage). It seems that the record as advertised was never issued.

 This was his first commercially issued 78, and features his first recordings, cut in 1945. Prague Frank's discography of Frankie Laine says the tracks were recorded in New York, although this link says the location was Hollywood. See Gold Seal website.

 I have the 78 on Bel-Tone and slholzer is correct - the flip side IS 'You're a Character, Dear" by Wini Beatty. The label is solid gray with a plain block print logo, as if the label was an afterthought. B-side cat# is S-0256 - A-side is exactly like the related photos above.

 Switched A & B sides per matrix numbers and Bel-Tone ads in Billboard.
"Brother, That's Liberty" was copyrighted in 1943 by Bud Freeman, Arny Freeman, and Frank Laine.(source). On labels, it apparently only ever appeared as "That's Liberty".

 According to the Bel-Tone advertisement in Billboard (Aug 11) "In The Wee Small Hours" was scheduled as the "B" side of "Brother, That's Liberty" for release on August 15, 1945 as # 0255, with # 0256 advertised as being; Wini Beatty (Side A) ... Gene Sargent (Side B).

The September 1st issue carried the same info re - #0255 & #0256 as ..
"GOING BIG EVERYWHERE !" ... However, it would appear that on second thought someone realised that if the Laine tracks - matrix #2324 (B,TL) and # 2327 (ITWSH) were issued separately backed by matrix #2325 & 2326 they would sell TWO discs rather than ONE!!
Consequently, matrix #2327 (ITWSH) appeared on S-0255;
while matrix #2324 (B,TL) appeared on S-0256

  I have scans of a disc in my database on which the illustrated side (S-0255) is backed with S-0256 ("You're A Character, Dear" by Wini Beatty, comps Elliott, Fascinato mx 1A-2326).
