OldMod67 3rd Mar 2021		Book Bournemouth And The Telephone 1886 - 1986 (1986)	These were free, mine coming from my father who worked for GPO/ Post Office Telecommunications / British Telecom for 44 years. Printed by Fir Tree Press, Wimborne, Dorset.
OldMod67 3rd Mar 2021		Book Various Authors - Bournemouth (2004)	The front cover shows Kinson stores and Post Office, around 1905. This building is still here (Oddfellows Hall) and in non-lockdown times, currently home to my barbers.
OldMod67 3rd Mar 2021		Book Various Authors - Bournemouth (2004)	I have just popped this, another of my old local books on. I discovered today that co-author Ian Andrews passed away on January 13th this year. I knew he had been very ill for some time, but being furloughed I'm out of the loop, so to speak. I met Ian at the end of the eighties in his role with Poole Historical Trust, whom I later ordered a lot of books from, starting back in the bookshop's Ottakar's days. Until he fell ill he always dropped off the stock personally, usually the following day. A mine of information, an important link in local history and local bookselling will no longer be there on my return in April.

Apart from the Aston's, there's the 2cv, the bobsled and Moon Buggy. The gold Aston is also in there somewhere.

This is the second edition (revised and enlarged) We used to price up imports manually on reverse. This one cost me £14.95 retail (less my staff discount at the time)

I scanned mind back when I had a laptop and scanner, but was reluctant to open it more then my usual 'reading' position! I still recall getting my Richard Barnes 'Mods!' book in 1980, by about '82 it was already very loose at the spine. This may have been a case of dodgy binding though, as my other Eel Pie book, Maximum R&B went they same way very quickky!
OldMod67 3rd Jan 2021		Book Lionel Fanthorpe - U.F.O. 517 (1965)	One of the best things for me with these sites, 45s, L.P.s and especially books, is the array of covers on old and overseas releases. This cover is really similar to some of those pulp sci-fi novels from fifties USA. Not something I've ever really bought, but wish I had a collection of now!

I had a habit of picking up every freebie bookmark we had come in, tucking them away. Unfortunately (or not if you're into de-cluttering), many seem to have vanished over time... I used to be a terrible hoarder.

I wondered if some kind soul could replace my old image with another. The damage in the eyes gives it a Children of the Damned effect! Thanks in advance.
OldMod67 7th Dec 2020		Book E. F. Benson - The Outcast And Other Dark Tales (2020)	Horror seemed the best catch-all due to the 'dark' nature of the fiction. I did toy with adding Fantasy, but that to me conjures up dragons and the like. I'm still reading this book as if was an advance copy sent from British Library, sat waiting for me at work the whole time I was on Covid furlough...

OldMod67 30th Nov 2020		Book G. W. Dahlquist - The Glass Books Of The Dream Eaters (2007)	@David Whiteley, Hi. Some branches had the belly-bands and cards, although I think we had to request them. Thing may have gone awry as the subbing in of stock may well have occurred in the October, when our Ottakar's had just been absorbed into HMV and re-branding as a Waterstones (October 2006). There were also some of the masks around too....The instalments were a good way to read them and I do recall our Penguin rep having a signed set of those.

First published in Great Britain by Viking, October 16th 2006 in ten chapter instalments, by subscription. The single volume was published in hardcover as above, January 25th 2007. Note: The ten instalments were also shrinkwrapped and used as advance copies to booksellers. A chapter sample was also used as a trailer for the book to customers of Waterstones Bookshops.
