ppint. 21st Aug 2024		Book Nevil Shute - What Happened To The Corbetts (1939)	the first edition h/cvr's publication date may've been preceded by the official distribution to air raid precautions officers to familiarise them with the possible and probable effects of major aerial bombing, including public health risks, such as subsequent explosions due to broken (town gas) gas mains and domestic pipes, &c., and to diseases resulting from contaminated water supplies.

ppint. 20th Aug 2024		Book John Burke - Privilege (1967)	film starring jean shrimpton and paul jones - the latter's first film after leaving manfred mann, where he'd been the lead singer on such successful singles as "5, 4, 3, 2, 1", "doo wah diddy diddy", "come tomorrow", "if you gotta go, go now", "there's no living without your loving", and "pretty flamingo", q.v. paul jones sings "i've been a bad, bad boy", q.v. & "free me"† as steven shorter, a svengali of a pop star manipulated by politicians and his handlers colluding to distract the public from their machinations, who is inspired to question the morality of the part he is playing by jean shrimpton's character in this film. † - aka "privilege (set me free)" when recorded by patti smith - much later, in 1978
