annaloog ● 1st Nov 2023		Thanks, 23skidoo, as with my comments for "From Russia, With Love", AFAIK Pan did not publish in the USA. I have a a dozen or so Pan paperbacks in my accumulation, but those I purchased in the USA are UK editions, either used, or import copies.



23skidoo 1st Nov 2023		@annaloog - 60c was also the cover price on these Pan editions in Canada and the US. I didn't scan the back cover of mine because it's identical, which (like other Pan Bonds I have) means the 60c was added for Canada/US.

23skidoo 4th Mar 2021		It's interesting that Pan actually acknowledges on the cover the fact the film bore little resemble to the book ("only one thing in common..."). The only part of the movie based on the book was the casino showdown between Peter Sellers' "Bond" and Le Chiffre, and there's actually a reference to the infamous "chair with no bottom" that readers of the book and those who know the more-serious 2006 film will recognize. One can only imagine readers unfamiliar with Bond who only know the 67 film and go to read the novel expecting it to be the same fun romp only to discover a rather low-key and dark story. I hope to find a copy of both this edition along with the 2006 film tie-in edition so they can make strange bedfellows on my bookshelf!
