It covers the "first publication anywhere" claim which would seem to contradict the existence of a hardcover edition by Scribner and according to ppint the fact the stories were previously printed. ppint. 7th Jan 2019		daw books simultaneous near-identical first printings sharing merkin-printed covers, first p/b edition *not* the first edition of this novel (despite incorrect statement in notes: section above. cover art by josh kirby (signed "kirby", also credited) b+w frontispiece by jack gaughan (signed with his "jg" digraph) (reprinted from if vol.20 #6, 7-8/1970 (if universal-tandem bre vol.20 #6, 8-9/1970 uk)) near-meaningless daw books collectors number 60 160pp. including titles, indicia etc, end pp. advertising refer to indicia to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed. no priority established nor liable to be, both bearing first printing date, number-string 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 refer also to indicia publishing history to distinguish between the two variant first printings, and the near-identical undated daw books mmpb third printing which retains cat#, cover art, cover price, differs: printing number-string drops the first two digits, retrospectively deeming one of the two first printings (conventionally accepted to've been the canadian-carcassed variant) to've been the second printing), leaving 3456789 wholly merkin-printed (this comment is from another edition of this book)
