Tie-in with the TV series. An uncredited author, writing as TV character Bret Maverick, recounts various tales of gambling couched with real-life advice for playing poker.
Foreword by Roy Huggins, the show's creator (it is not known if he is the true author; even when a new edition was published in 1994 to tie in with the Mel Gibson movie, the true author remained uncredited.
Dell first edition (without advertising on back cover). Some copies may have been distributed with a playing card promoting the show's sponsor.

annaloog 6th Feb 2023		1st Dell printing, Oct 1959 2nd printing, Dec 1959 I have added images of the title page and detail of the copyright / publishing page for the 2nd printing (I have had to tweak these a bit to minimize curvature and perspective). There are several variations of the back cover, some showing advertisements for Jeep or Kaiser Aluminum. The royal flush design may be the earliest.



23skidoo 5th Feb 2023		I had to cobble together information on release date and other details from online sources as my copy is missing its title and copyright page. I searched google and could find no indication of who the author was, and that included an Internet Archive scanned version of the 1994 reprint. The 1959 date is from Abe books listings, but the 1994 reprint gives a 1962 date. Any corrections are welcome - I know there are variant back covers as I've seen some that feature advertising.
