Hi Fixbutte, yes the Booklet is the same. Thanks for the background info regarding the early CD production years. I have come across a couple of other entries just like this one with a mix of early and later pressings some with bar codes and some without sharing the same cat number.

Additional info: Already the first EMI issue with the Japan-made CD had a 12-page booklet "Printed in England by James Upton Ltd Birmingham and London", with explication texts about the new "Compact Digital Audio System" in German, English, French and Italian, something definitely not useful for a UK-only issue. I suppose your Made in UK issue has the same booklet.

Hi hiwatt1973, it's not as easy to distinguish different releases here as you suggest, especially as not all information from booklets, discs etc. has been uploaded yet. It seems, however, that all your "made in the UK" specifications are also on the issue uploaded and owned by Syd Vliet, only that that one has also a barcode. This doesn't necessarily make two different releases though.

Moreover, you can't draw the line between "an early pre bar code release" (made in the UK) and "a later bar code one" (Euro made or made in Japan). Actually, as there were no CD pressing plants in the UK before May 1986, early pre-barcode issues with this catalogue number were made either in Japan or West Germany and sold everywhere in the EMI distribution area, including the UK. When the EMI CD plant opened at last in 1986, UK-produced issues were distributed alike. Later issues with barcode were apparently made anywhere (e.g. Holland) and sold in the UK regardless the place of manufacture.

So we could make different entries for the pre-barcode issue and the barcode issue, but I don't see a benefit from it. Anyway we should not make a UK issue of it because this (made in UK just for the UK) does not exist by the 45worlds CD Albums standards.

I don't think merging the Two versions is the way to go with this release. We clearly have Two very different releases; an early pre bar code release and a later bar code one. The one that I uploaded (without the bar code) was clearly made in the UK as indicated on the CD and has Printed in England by James Upton Ltd Birmingham and London on the inside of the Booklet under the credits. The Euro made versions do not have this. Also some versions of the Euro releases have CD's that were made in Japan and share the same UK cat number and could well have been made years after the one without the bar code. What do you think?

The two issues (without and with barcode) merged, release date adjusted (according to Martin C. Strong's Great Rock Discography) and made European issue, as proposed by Syd Vliet.

Added the disc and a variation of the back (this one with a barcode).
We've got two entries for this CD with the same cat no., one for 1984 and one for 1986, so I think these should be merged. 1984 appears to be the correct release date, the one without the barcode being the earlier pressing.

The first CD that I bought, I never even had a CD player at the time! What a recording!
