stoutfellow51 3rd Oct 2022		The Decca sessions, recorded on 1 January 1962 in West Hampstead. The original vinyl 1979 issue and all subsequent releases seem to have come from a tape gifted to a third party in the 1960s by Brian Epstein. The Beatles have owned the tape since the 1980s and took legal action confirming that they owned the copyright in 1989. These recordings and the releases that contain them are thus unofficial under current copyright law.



rockwave 23rd Mar 2021		Japanese sentence on the obi strip is completely wrong. Any Japanese will notice that the CD is not made in Japan. TOCP-6211 was assigned to David Bowie's "Young Americans" which was released in 1991 by Toshiba EMI. Obviously bootleg.



GimmeVinyl 6th Mar 2020		Odd one, this CD. First time I've come across it. Very odd that the Japanese used the U.S. Decca label. If such an LP would have been released here, it would have been on the London label. I do remember a LP being available here, but it wasn't pressed on any major label.. and it was the "Decca tapes", with 3 or 4 of these songs omitted.

Jock_Girl 11th Apr 2014		Just got my copy yesterday. Mine comes with an obi, inner sleeve, a folded Japanese language liner notes and lyric sheet, and then English language folded 'booklet'. The English language 'booklet' is a fictional story about the recording that alleges that they were released by Decca as both singles and and LP in 1962 to counter the Parlophone releases.



Jock_Girl 29th Mar 2014		Odd thing -- I just ordered a copy off amazon ... so it is in some weird area between being legal and not-legal. The thing that points it toward being bootleg is that it doesn't have any EMI/ Parlophone logos on the disk itself (but does on the sleeve) -- and reproduces a US Decca style LP label layout and colours and NOT a UK Decca label.



TopPopper 29th Mar 2014		I think the presence of the three Lennon/McCartney compositions suggests this is a boot of the complete tapes. I don't think they've ever shown up anywhere legal except two of them (I think) on Anthology.



JPGR&B SUBS 29th Mar 2014		Now, is this an official release or a bootleg. I have a number of these excellent CDs that are apparently made in Japan, but can't make up my mind how "official" they are.
