Ok addy - I can appreciate your concern. But...I would say in my defense (if I've any left) that I DID compare like-for-like and heard a difference. I don't think I was mistaken, however, there's only so much they can do with with these old tapes. And also there's the fact that both Spin and Discogs make claim contrary to your view - not forgetting that you have admitted to not actually having heard the new version, which kinda loses your argument a few brownie points. I also simply replied to the points that you had raised and you'll find that I did not stray into new territory for the sake of my own salvation.
I would also hesitate in thinking people are going to rush to flog their original issue, just like that.
As for a £90 valuation, do you sell houses for a living? Which equates to £75 for a what? a larger book. I think Genesis Publications would hire you - you've got the necessary sales patter.
Valuations are as you know are an extremely subjective from-to and personally I'm not interested in what anything's worth - until I'm selling it; and having run a 2nd hand shop selling thousands on-line, I'm pretty clued-up on the Vinyl/CD world on that score. A mere by-stander not actually involved will be perplexed at the extremities employed by many would-be sellers, as there's absolutely no justification for some of the prices as advertised other than cold calculated greed. And I could list many 'respected' sellers who thrive upon that plateau. There's one with a short name containing two vowels, whom doesn't actually play the records before grading, nor cleans them, and by using the most attractive and appealing descriptive flowery language ever witnessed, cleans up. They didn't with me, as I sent the last two items back for refund. They were in a disgraceful state, despite being graded 'near mint'. Aye, right, like I came up the Clyde in a banana boat.

I haven't got to my Vinyl yet, maybe in about a year or so judging by my progress so far.
Other than that ady, it's all good, I'm not a huff-taker or grudge-maker.

But...as for that cruddy R&R Hall of Fame...give me a break. It's THE most corrupt, biased, cocaine-addled load of crock that ever reared it's ugly head. And I'd cite the fact that just last year (as I remember) was when they finally admitted Deep Purple, who were certainly one of the biggest draws in USA in the 70's, selling warehouses of records. I very much doubt the likes of Hawkwind will ever see their stage, something to do with a lack of Gucci attire, shampoo and platinum teeth. Yes, Bruce & Bono, I'm talkin' to you!

Don't be a stranger, see you around.

ady - did you forget about your own comment made where you stated, quote: "You seem to make a disparaging point for me actually having had enough money to be able to buy the original version, which is just plain ridiculous."
Only you will know the reasons behind that one, as I for one certainly cannot fathom it. But thanks all the same as it made me laugh, and some.

No, I haven't quite had the time to peruse your own personal collection as yet, being somewhat busy making entries of my own. But there again, if you're so hung-up on the likes of BS, need I bother?

Yes, I am acquainted with Spin's Steve via the phone, chasing him up on my never-arriving orders. I cashed in all my points with my last order and doubt I'll return in a hurry. Eight years of good business I gave that guy when I'd buy on-line as I lived abroad for 6 of them and he blew it. I reckon I put a couple of grand his way.
But I would suggest that you don't dismiss these Radio Broadcasts too quickly as with just one exception out of a dozen or so that I've bought, none too shabby actually. The artwork is of the least interest to me. The high street shops sell them too, at least HMV and Fopp.

As for the tech format list, I suppose it depends what's available by whomever one listens to as the high-end format options are somewhat scarce on the ground. I've actually only seen one title on Blue-spec CD2 that I'd be interested in so far, and as I've already bought the album twice before, I can wait until UK catches up with Japan.

But seriously ady, you're becoming a royal pain in the ass here, and seem to want to make a mountain out of a one-liner comment that I had made about one item. I even said in black and white, OK, I'll take your word for it. It's taken, and some.
Meanwhile, I've another 6,000 items to wade through, so kindly get a life. Cheers 8-)

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away (2013)
I think the "under exclusive license to Kobalt Label Services" answers one question.
Bad Seed Ltd. is a publishing company and not necessarily a Record Label as such - at least in this instance, at this stage of Cave's re-juggling of his business affairs.
Just because the book is printed in Mexico does not automatically mean it's a US release.
Were the book printed in China instead (also cheap place for printing) would that make it Chinese?
If you possess or know of a US version with the very same cat# and barcode, speak up.
If not, take my word for it - I had to pre-order in UK due to the limited run quantity manufactured.
These weren't sitting on supermarket shelves.

Buffalo Springfield - Box Set (2013)
I guess you missed my remark that I also had owned the 2001 version. Hence, why I could play like for like, back to back. I thought that I had explained that well enough.
Actually it wasn't Discogs (yes, I know there's countless errors) that first brought my attention, but Spincds.com in Newcastle, who run an excellent sales site, giving generous information of pre-releases, and this was a point of fact that was made at the time of the 2nd issue - hence my initial interest and bought one from them.
Frankly, and I'm being absolutely honest here, I couldn't give a monkey's uncle. This box set is so low down on the totem pole of my extensive collection of all things box-sets, it might have been played 3 times at most. Most of the tracks are fairly dire, amateurish and musically inept. I could have compiled one decent full length CD from the lot of it.
Never would I consider BS to be a "classic" band. I'll take The Byrds and The Doors any day, even CSN&Y with the dreadful Nash-slush.
Neither have I ever been the least bit interested in 'packaging' - a nice large booklet does not make for a better record. I knew countless people who were into all that via my shop, buying records because they liked the cover. Seriously?
I haven't got near to Neil Young as yet as I'm still labouring over Dylan entries circa 1964, with several thousand to do. However, I will make a point of thoroughly checking over my Neil collection as I own every CD he's ever released and all of which were bought at point of release. Of course, there are some that have been reissued and I will have disposed of the older versions long ago. You want HDCD, I'll make sure you get HDCD with tinsel on the top.
But you're living in the past - the future's Blu-ray Audio and Blue-spec CD2. Get with the programme man!

The Steve Hoffman forums - OK, if you like mindless chatter.
See Discogs with a substantial breakdown of contents and clarifying that the 2001 US was and the Euro was not.
Suffice to say, digital technology advanced somewhat in those ensuing years and certainly the reason why Neil Young declined from releasing his own archives box back then, despite it being ready prepared, because he wasn't happy with the technology at that point in time.
Other than that, I'll have to take your word as I no longer own the 2001 box as I sold it on because it didn't sound as good compared to the 2013 version. A luxury afforded me only because I co-owned a record shop.
I'd also say that if you hold firm beliefs that because "this was just a budget, repackaged version of the box" that this automatically means that it is by nature a lesser entity, I'd say the corporate music business hold you exactly where they want you to be - with your money in their pocket.

Alenko: You ask what is the point? Are you serious? Why don't you take a closer look at the catalogue number and the bar code. Then you will understand the point.

I guess this is what happens when you listen to Olivia Newton John. I shouldn't laugh.

Well I suppose it depends where you live or which version you bought back then, but the UK version was just standard CD and NOT HDCD, which appeared to be exclusive to the US, for some reason. Hence, why I bought it again and what a difference.
