George Slv 27th Mar 2019		CD Album Jimmy Velvit [Mullins] - The Original Jimmy Velvit (1995)	The CD pamphlet says All Rights Reserved 1994. The composers are so readers know which songs they are. That's my best judgment on handling that. I do believe it was Tennant who bailed out Mullins. If Phil York is still around he should be persuaded to release the photo of both Jimmies together. Maybe let Getty images handle it.
George Slv 28th Dec 2018		CD Album Teresa Brewer - The Jazz Recordings (2018)	This was planned for a few weeks ago but was postponed. While the recordings are 1950s the cover photo is from her 1982 Swiss Montreaux Jazz Festival appearance.
George Slv 6th Oct 2018		CD Album Ronnie Dove - The Complete Original Chart Hits 1964-1969 (2014)	I came across this at 7digital downloads in Canada. Hearing the mere mp3 samples I thought this was the best sounding digital transfer I've heard online. Two songs were lesser quality including When Liking Turns To Loving. The 16-bit flac songs were $1.89 each so I only bought two and recorded my balance from my own hits LP. There is a flac and mp3 option, no m4a which I would prefer over mp3. The pricing is premium. About his hits, Hello Pretty Girl is a great favorite. I thought Say You and Kiss Away were enchanting reminders of 1961. Seems that by 1964 and 65 with a new punk era starting they did not chart as high as his others. His strength was in redoing old style pop with strong new arrangements, like Dean Martin and Bobby Vinton.

George Slv 21st Jul 2018		CD Album Jimmy Velvit [Mullins] - The Original Jimmy Velvit (1995)	Review These recordings are the "lost master" types, here issued by recording engineer Phil York in 1994. They are not limited to 1964 but progress to the 1970 area. From #15 they are the late 60s style like Jimmy Webb or Gentle On My Mind. 16 and 20 were issued under the pseudonym James Bell, and 20 charted #51 Country. His first recordings in Dallas in 1961 were made by DJ Jim Lowe (of Green Door fame). Some were local hits. On #04 the high voice backing is Bobby Hendricks. #01 is an alternate take of his regional hit. It was also recorded by Jimmy Velvet, who was Jimmie Tennant and had been Mullins' manager. "Something" is the Beatles' hit. I got into this subject from remembering We Belong Together a bit from the radio in 1963, which was by Tennant. Explanations of the identities were given by Phil York when he sold some CDs on ebay. George Slv 14th Feb 2017		CD Album Connie Francis - 26 Greatest Hits (Audiophile Version) (2010)	This is another one of those disc titles that's a joke. 26 Greatest Hits? I count half a dozen, from her first hits package in 1960 only. The rest being album songs. But at least they state that in the contents.
George Slv 14th Feb 2017		CD Album Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra / Lorin Maazel - Sibelius: Symphony No.1, Karelia Suite (2009)	Review I've had a chance to listen to this on computer, using a 32-bit fp conversion, with external stereo speakers. While allowing that it's not the full DSD sound, the sound is smoother and fuller than CD. But compared to my vinyl recording the tone is not as pleasant to me. Not as full and rounded, with harsher treble and less bass. I will be drawn to listen to my 64-bit recording of my vinyl. But the labels are right to give attention to the Maazel Vienna recordings. There are a couple CDs on sale at priceminister.com right now. There is also an extended edition of his Carnegie concert available.
George Slv 30th Sep 2016		CD Album Teresa Brewer - 16 Most Requested Songs (1991)	Review 1970s recordings produced by Bob Thiele after their marriage. Columbia's title is meaningless, it's just a title of a reissue series. Only 07 and 12 get into her later soft jazz style, the rest are vintage Teresa with the big voice. 05 is the 1960 Gary US Bonds rock & roll hit. Selections chosen by Thiele. The CD is AAD, but they still ignorantly claim it is "digitally remastered" by Tim Geelan. The portrait is a special painting by Robert Bergin. George Slv 28th Sep 2016		CD Album Teresa Brewer - The Cotton Connection (1989)	I now notice the name "Zillion" on my product. This apparently is a record label Zillion Records, I guess in Holland. This seems to be significant info about this release, needs to be figured. The release number on mine is 2611152, Signature not mentionned anywhere, but given at Teresa Brewer Center. I ordered it from Europe. But it does not make this 45Worlds entry wrong.
George Slv 26th Sep 2016		CD Album Teresa Brewer - The Cotton Connection (1989)	The cover is the same picture as the LP and cassette but has special effects added. This was a tribute to the music of the late Duke Ellington, conducted by Mercer Ellington. My standout track here is Creole Love Call, where Teresa does wordless multi-tracked vocalizing, and also does a soprano part.

George Slv 19th Sep 2016		CD Album Teresa Brewer - Stephane Grappelli And Teresa Brewer (1987)	Review One of the jazz albums that Bob Thiele, her second husband, led her to record. These are light versions, with jazz guitars and Stephane Grappelli on violin, casually sung. Meaning she wasn't aiming at the hit market. Now it was the little girl with the little voice. The famous Julie London recorded some of her albums with just a guitar and microphone in her own living room. And the infamous George Slv has been known to try to record a harmonica at home. Each one plays on an individual song.

George Slv 9th Jul 2016		CD Album Teresa Brewer - Her Heart-Touching Love Songs & Famous Golden Hits (2002)	Review This contains a wide range of her Coral recordings, but certainly not a definitive collection of her hits. Two albums were marketed on TV in 1985 and sold by mail. For example 09 is from her Hawaii LP. 5,17, 23 were from her Naughty Naughty Naughty LP. 06 is of course her Coral rerecording. 21 is the Ferlin Husky hit "Gone", which had been unreleased by Teresa. 2 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?

I currently see it at Amazon, and I'm not sure how legitimate it is or whether they even made the CD from mp3s or what? This company apparently is copying the old vinyl LPs. They also call it "remastered", which is the wrong term.

George Slv 29th Feb 2016		CD Album Teresa Brewer - Music! Music! Music! (2005)	Review Released in UK when these songs became public domain after 50 years. Restored from the original records. One disc filled to maximum. Includes her earliest recordings of 1949 on London. Also her 1938 radio appearance on the Major Bowes Amateur Hour at age 7, which includes her interview with him, the Strutters vocal, and the sound of her tap-dancing to Sing Sing Sing on piano. She won that episode. The CD finishes at 1954 with Coral recordings. The Thing is full length at 2:22. Music! Music! Music! is of course the original London label hit. George Slv 13th Dec 2015		CD Album The Reflections - (Just Like) Romeo & Juliet (1995)	Review Complete including early and later songs by individual members and different group formations. Quality is fine, altho I'll never know what someone means by "digitally remastered" as it says. "Special Fanclub Release" from Germany. The notable hits and attempts are 1, 3, 5, 11, 13, 14, 18, 19, 23. The hits were arranged by Callelo and Sonny Sanders of Detroit. Song 30 was a solo release by lead singer Tony Michaels ((Tony Micale). Track 32 is just the instrumental backing track for it. The group also made an appearance in the 1965 film "Winter A-Go-Go" singing "I'm Sweet On You" (written by Boyce, Hart, Venet). It is considered unauthorized. Quality is fine. Missing was a little sub-label that Marginal of Belgium had for about 10 issues. And here are the Europeans again misusing the term "remastered". These were copied from vinyl.
George Slv 21st Aug 2015		CD Album Pat Boone - At His Best: (2000)	There's confusion over Love Letters In The Sand because he rerecorded it in 1959 for the stereo edition of Great Hits. Here is an archive copy from this release, made in 1974.
George Slv 6th Aug 2015		CD Album Clyde McPhatter - A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues (2000)	If you read the bottom right of the insert page 4, the notes are creating a terrible mixup with the two songs. When it says Lavender Lace differs from Roy Orbison's, it is referring to Sweet and Innocent. Terrible mistake. Considering what follows it. They locate an old reference of Orbison and Melson writing Lavender Lace. So now is this also a typo and they meant Sweet and Innocent? There is no Orbison Lavender Lace. They allow that the reference may be mistaken. But we still aren't sure what they are talking about. Lavender Lace was written by Bob Montgomery around 1966, confirmed on the single.

George Slv 6th Aug 2015		CD Album Clyde McPhatter - A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues (2000)	This collection from Amy is mostly soul ballad oriented. That was not the way to get hits. But there are terrific standouts in a pop-rock vein - tracks 01 to 04. These were on singles, but were not enuf to get him hits at that stage. If nothing else you need to have his "A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues" in your collection.

George Slv 19th May 2015		CD Album Elvis Presley - Elvis At Sun (2004)	Digital masters made from the original Sun master tapes. So it appears to have the original Sun reverb, and sounds that way too. Used the DSD digital method, supposedly the best available now. But of course as soon as ya convert it to 16-bit CD audio, ya ottimatikly lose sound. But it does sound guud. I'd still like to know the history of remastering after RCA got them.
