What an album this was... fantastic and a great introduction (for me) to 'electric folk'

Gordon Lightfoot - Don Quixote (1994)
When perusing the site this morning, I noticed that our 'chum' @Ppint had once again commented on a post (this one unsurprisingly) in his usual inimitable indecipherable style. I find these posts annoying and a real pain as I can't be bothered to decipher the gibberish.

Note my surprise (and quite possibly joy) in coming back online and seeing that one of the mods has made corrections to the shockingly poor grammar and use of capital letters since I had last looked.

Good on you, whichever Mod you are !!!!

I know that the mods are very keen on keeping the items accurate and I really feel that comments on such should be of a comparable standard - I'm all for comment and for reactions, corrections, general feelings, how much they album/track/whatever was enjoyed but can we not insist that it is in some form of legible language???

Posts of this nature to me are like a car crash - I don't want to look but am drawn to them in horror.

Nena - Definitive Collection (1996)
I have the single disk version of this, I suspect you've made a couple of errors in the composers.

I saw the band at the height of 99 Red Balloons success here in the UK and they were really good.

Mod Edit - Composers corrected

I see that PPint is causing mischief again on 45worlds.

I see there are over 69,000 members here, and PPint the only one that is consistently out of step with EVERYONE else. Attention seeking at best or a troll at worst. PPint probably loves the fact that (s)he’s the only one talked about, and seems to like causing more work for the moderators.

I make this comment about moderators as I have checked out a number of comments made by this person on the various forums and sections when I noticed that a comment (s)he made in the forums the other day was insulting some religious groups and others, but it has now been changed by a moderator. In my opinion he should be given the ultimatum:- fall into line or go somewhere else to cause mischief and I don’t mean 45 spaces or 45cat.

Actually scrub that, throw this troll out for good and all.

I saw these two while looking through YouTube and liked what they did enough to buy one of their albums direct from their website. When it came, it included 3 postcard sized inserts which I thought were interesting enough to add as scans.

Yep, thanks Quad5point1 - I am going through my collection adding additional scans etc when I find I haven't done them for a number of my CDs, i.e. I'm not doing all of 'em, just those I feel I should do!

So, thanks again, saved me the job! :)

Queen - News Of The World (2011)
Thanks to @misa443 for the original note which I have unashamedly lifted as this is pretty much identical to the list the OP put up, with the exception that this does not contain any bonus material.

All scans here are mine from the original artwork on the CD.

I used to have this on vinyl once upon a time - always one of my favourites by the band and I saw them perform it live too!

Carly Simon - Original Album Series (2011)
The main problem@LeeWrecker is that the product itself doesn't state whether it's European, UK or International. Not being an expert, simply someone who loves the music and the collection I tend to err on the side of caution and list them as Europe unless it's explicit.

I added a CD just yesterday which had the same barcode as one already on the site, but it didn't have a catalogue number and the existing CD was listed as USA? Which obviously mine wasn't. So I added mine and listed it as Europe but again, it could easily have been a UK only CD.

Which, frankly, I will continue to do.

Blood, Sweat And Tears - Original Album Classics (2009)
Looking through the various scans I made of the sleeves, which are actual duplicates of the original sleeves shrunk down to CD size, and they made me realise just how far we've moved on from when they were originally issued.

For example, on the album simply titled "Blood Sweat & Tears", which I think was from 1970, the text at the bottom of the sleeve reads: "Columbia stereo records can be played on today's mono record players with excellent results, they will last as long as mono records played on the same equipment, yet will reveal full stereo sound when played on stereo record players."

Reminds me of messages on early CDs, no one at that time ever dreamt of streaming music and the fact that today's music is so readily avaialble everywhere and at any time.

I have to admit though that I still buy CDs but do digitise all to MP3 so I can make my own compilations for listening to whilst on the move.

Denny Laine - Performs The Hits Of Wings (2001)
I bought this CD from a charity shop who were doing 3 CDs for £1. This was my 'ah well, I need to choose a 3rd CD' selection.

Actually, it's not bad BUT I did love Wings and have to say I've not heard of half the tracks on this CD and doubt very much they're Wings tracks. An example being 'Go Now which of course was sang by Denny Laine in the 60s but with The Moody Blues and isn't a Wings track. And yes, I know they did perform it live (on Wings Over America if my memory serves) but still, not a Wings track.

But hell, I definitely got my £0.33 pence worth!

Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy - Live (2018)
Review
I found this review in September '18's Record Collector, written by Ian Abrahams. I agree with most of it, particularly the comments about how awful the sound was when Palmer was speaking, I had to crank the volume up just to hear it, then lower it back down again for the music.

Review
A Fanfare For The Uncommon Man

In his notes to this set, comprising a DVD filmed in Florida in June 2016 - the year we lost a swathe of notable musicians including Keith Emerson and Greg Lake - and a CD from November 2014 that contains a very different set list, Carl Palmer describes how his legacy tribute to ELP uses current technology to "re-create the feel and familiar earmarkings of ELP's signature sound."

So the emphasis is on legacy rather than pushing the boundaries and fresh horizons, but Palmer wears that with a highly emotional sense of pride, evidenced on the film of his current trio, plus special guests including Steve Hackett, captured at the Olympia Theater, Miami, and billed as Pictures At An Exhibition - A Tribute To Keith Emerson.

Aside from the special guests - Mark Stein and David Frangioli also appear - there's a filmed background projection, dance, and the Ida Choir Ensemble, whose vocals on Jerusalem are a powerful adjunct to the band's robust take on Hubert Parry's seminal music.

However, RC (Record Collector) played the film on a couple of screens, and found the sound levels to Palmer's song introductions, rising from behind the kit each time, rather muted compared to the band's playing and we had to strain to hear his narrative.

Perhaps that's what made this feel unexpectedly flat and rather stop/start. It's an interesting watch rather than one as engrossing as the concept suggests. Still, the prog interpretations of classical standards live up to the promise of Palmer's comments on bottling the ELP sound.

Enigma - MCMXC A.D "The Limited Edition" (1991)
Review
I loved this album from the moment I heard it. I first encountered Enigma and Principles of Lust when I was having a massage (and that's ALL I was having!).

I found their music oddly relaxing, which was probably the intention of the masseur at the time.

I still listen to it now, haing owned it for the better part of 25 years.

Paul Rodgers - Live At Hammersmith Apollo 2009 (2009)
I noticed that track 3 is listed as 'Pony', and not having this particular CD, I wondered if it's the same song titled 'Ride On A Pony' from the album 'Highway'?

Actually, I've just bought it on EBay so I'll be able to answer the question myself pretty soon! :)

Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy - Live (2018)
Review
I bought this on a whim as I'd loved some of ELPs music, especially in the 70s. Keith Emerson's keyboard sound was recognisable anywhere.

This seemed good value for money to me, CD and DVD with the DVD having many more tracks than the audio CD and as a tribute to the recently (when recorded) death of Emerson.

So, I sat down to watch and listen. Decent sound quality but as for the rest. No.

For some reason Carl Palmer has decided to change the lineup to a 3 piece centring on the guitar, not keyboards, well technically I guess it centres on the drums, which is no real surprise as that's Carl's role in the band.

So, to me, disappointing but it did encourage me to put on my copy of the original ELP album and have an evening of some classics.
