Helen Willemse 19th Jun 2022		CD Album Diana Ross - Red Hot Rhythm And Blues (1987)	love the alternates on the US album, in those days you could never just buy one or the other. You had to buy the European and US albums to get all the tracks plus the alternated mixes. USA Dirty Looks is a bit longer and different from the EU album version. However, in the Dutch stores we hardly ever got the long boxes. It made them cooler than the EU versions... but the stores often destroyed them or "lost" them. Love to see the long box on this one in the pics... awesome photo's!

Helen Willemse 18th Jun 2022		CD Album Diana Ross - Dance Songs (1985)	Weird chopped up disappointing album. Called K-Tel about the chopped up tracks and they said they got the tapes like that from Motown. I will never forget that... I think they were covering up their own mistakes.

Helen Willemse 16th Jun 2022		CD Album Diana Ross - All The Great Hits (2011)	Overpriced loudness war victim. 62 euro's with the promise it would be great. Boy did I get the shock of my life. Trust me, stick to the first pressing or better yet: the LP! I was playing a normal CD before this one, it is so loud.. the first notes of the piano woke the cats up and gave me heart attack LMAO!! It's nice for the collection but the price definitely is not! Booklet is the same as the 2000: 96k / 24-bit it even has the same text in it. it's stuck to the cardboard so I did not want to risk damaging it.

Helen Willemse 15th Jun 2022		CD Album Diana Ross And The Supremes - The No 1's (2004)	PhilMH, I always wondered about the chopped heads... it was the first to be released in the Netherlands... bought it because they said the tracks were a bit different. On the EU version however... normal versions but at least they still got their heads. What idiot came up with chopping heads?? rolls eyes On some Dutch sites this album is called The No.1's expanded edition. I asked them if they knew the old version, no answer of course. This version on this page came later in NL, I bought it just have the heads :-p And then there is this so called "special edition" with the same tracklisting -_-

It's too bad that one can not add notes afterwards, once the album is saved. If someone thinks he/she has the right release date, make sure to check the two cat. nrs and barcode first ;-) PhilMH, correct whatever I missed or did wrong. Sandbrain is my nickname by friends LOL!
Helen Willemse 14th Jun 2022		CD Album Diana Ross - Lady Sings The Blues – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1985)	PhilMH, been a Diana/Supremes collector for a long time.... I am using a program called Music Collector for years, you can put in a whole lot of info into it. Had this listed as 1986 because of Discogs, until today... for some reason I only just noticed the different cat. nr. today... bought the CD somewhere in the 80's... Every time a DR CD was released I bought it, some I ditched and bought newer versions of because they sounded better. Back in the day some CD's sounded like they were recorded in a can LOL! A nightmare is the right word for those cat. nrs.. man, since I rediscovered this site I am digging into the CD's and LP's again I am seeing things that drive me crazy hahaha! On the bright side, it is a good distraction from life right now. Gives the brain something else to worry about. Do you remember when in about one year time Polygram left and Universal stepped in and the entire back catalogue was rereleased...again (we need a tired smiley here). I had just bought The Boss remaster and a few months later it was released AGAIN... this time with bonus tracks. For a moment I stopped buying reissues, too much of the same. Untill the expanded stuff came yaaay! Anyway, thanks for your explanation :-)

Probably because I was staring at the "Made In Germany" words. Of course it was released in more than one EU country at the time including UK which was sort of part of the EU. I can't remember what flag I entered if you corrected it, thanks!! :-) Shame it didn't make it to Australia.. would have been one to add to my collection LOL!

Nr. on CD: MOTD-758 Barcode: 050109904624 Both package and disc say: Made in USA Distribution MCA. Inner ring says made by JVC Text on disc is blue Does anyone have a clue as to when this was released? I've always thought it was a 1986 release. This thing is driving me nuts LOL! I have had this album for ages.. never noticed the different cat. nr on the disc LOL!

There is one Coke Commercial on it, tracknumber changes during the one track. Very strange.. I remember it was on sale very fast after release, we would soon learn why. Bit of a bummer if you bought for full price just shortly before.

Unfortunately the cardboard box did not survive time. Oh bloody h*ll... here is another one; on my discs::: MOTD-5381 -_- Covers; same as this submission ... am not going to submit this one because of a different number on the discs. Am going to coffee and let this one slide LMAO! At least mine is not saying "reprinted with permission" on the back of the backcovers.

Should I submit this release? Anything else is the same, even the left overs from the 2 on 1 release LOL! I do recall MCA rereleased the entire series twice

The Andantes filled in for the 2 ladies. This happened a lot, on a lot of albums there are no Supremes LOL! Silver Bells is a solo recording on the mono version.

Helen Willemse 14th Jun 2022		CD Album Diana Ross And The Supremes - Greatest Hits Volume 1 + 2 (1986)	I never understood why the CD was titled Vol 1 + 2.... it was a double album simply released as Greatest Hits. No numbers on the cover. All tracks recorded by the call sign THE SUPREMES but released as Diana Ross & The Supremes. Gordy probably didn't want to pay Florence Ballard for her work? Anyway, this album was rereleased as GOLD in 2005 as a double CD with Greatest Hits 3 and 70"s Supremes At Their Best. I have yet to see the original LP's sold as Vol 1 and 2 as 2 separate... never seen it, never found it. But Motown was lazy when CD's were coming up.. never bothered to release them as the originals were. But at least they could sell the CD as a 2 for 1 ;-)

It was not rated as a bootleg in most EU countries. There are other labels that produce albums like this and look just as bootleggie as this one. Wouldn't worry about the format, it's a CD not CDR.
