The Beatles - Abbey Road (1987)
Jock_Girl, I would say that the four similarities, release date, label, cat#, and barcode are surely enough to make this International. I can't recall the manufacturer ever being considered as a factor in whether releases are International or not. If this were the case everything manufactured by Shock (ie. the entire White Stripes catalogue), Cortex or any the other CD manufacturers in Australia would be Australian.
I know that the Beatles were signed to Capitol in the USA and traditionally have used that label but the presence of one different Capitol specific cat# on the longbox does not in my opinion outweigh the other evidence on the CD. Could that cat# be a cat# for the longbox alone? Should the longbox have it's own entry?
I just think the longbox evidence is negligible in light of what I see as overwhelming identical evidence in the four other areas mentioned above.

Parlophone looks like the label here to me. Can someone explain why this is listed as Capitol when there is not a Capitol logo in sight and just a manufactured by reference? Bewildered.

Is there any reason this USA copy is NOT included in with the International releases that were released on the same day, with the same cat# and same barcode. Also I think the label should be just Parlophone - the fact that it was manufactured by Capitol doesn't mean that the CD is on the Capitol label, which it isn't. If we were to follow the reasoning here we would have a lot of BMG/Sony/WEA (et al) secondary labels. Anyway, this and the linked release are the same and the discussion on that page confirms that.

The Congos - Heart Of The Congos (1996)
Leonard, the older I get the list of best reggae albums ever just keeps getting longer and longer. This one's definitely up there though but then again nearly anything touched by Lee Perry in the 70's would be too. A strong Christian religious theme on this one was still not enough for it to cut through to the mainstream charts worldwide at the time of release. Now of course it has been belatedly recognised as an out an out classic.

The Rolling Stones - Some Girls (2009)
Hi Greg, I used to try and link the master release (Argentinian in this case) to the new entry to as I'm guessing you did with your attempts to link this CD. I too would find that the "can't find CD" message would quite often crop up, perhaps something to do with entry being new on the database, not moderated but I don't really know why .
Anyway, what I'm getting at is that to avoid this slight inconvenience I link the other way around copying the URL of the new entry and linking to master on the master entry page. This seems to work even if you've had the "could not find" message. In this case I opened the master and other three versions in separate tabs and linked them all to the master one by one using their separate URL's.
It may seem easier to just copy the master URL and link it the three other releases but as you know the system sometimes has problems with finding things this way. Does this make any sense Greg? Anyway the upshot of it is if you run into that problem again reverse the way you're trying to link.

I managed to link this one to the three other releases on the site Greg. Could have just been a glitch when you tried it? Anyway it's done now.

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (1983)
There needs to be some consistency in listing these Target CD entries. We have two that I'm aware of from 1984 on 45Worlds and they are both listed differently. This one is listed as International and this one is listed as a USA release.
The other release has no barcode but for all intents and purposes is same as this release (probably part of the same production run) and may well have had a barcode on the packaging for all we know. We need to forget the one difference or missing piece of evidence on the other CD look at the similarities and work out what the best fit is for all of these Target CD releases on 45 Worlds.

ady_lister, you're right, apologies for grabbing the wrong end of the stick and beating about the bush with it and thank you for setting me straight. No wonder I couldn't find any other references to the flippin' things on the net then. Nevertheless, they still were produced specifically for the USA market which is the issue here. I will edit my prior comment to remove references to the factual error I've made so I don't look as stupid as I really am. There youse go I's all brainified again, hurrrurp.
Now what about the rest of my comment? You and anyone else for that matter can PM me if you have any ideas on how to tidy this CD entry business. I'm not just referring to this entry here I'm talking about a more general overall systems approach. I have been collaborating with a few other members recently and shortly I hope we'll be putting some ideas up for discussion in the forum on we can deal with some of the problems in CD World. So PM me with anything you might like to see raised in such a forum. Phew! now I'm back two days early from week of self imposed exile, ah well.

Alright then, so the fact that it has a specifically designed Target label and was intended for sale in the USA nothing. Or did in Europe sell these with this label as well? To my mind the intended market is clearly the USA and the matching cat# and barcodes to the European release here indicate both versions should be classified as international. As flawed as the guidelines may be that is what they are at present.

Now, let's just put the shoe on the other foot for a while and consider the onus of proof. If this CD were to listed as European I think we will need proof that it was only ever sold in Europe with this label and furthermore it was never sold in the USA in this configuration. I know this sounds ludicrous but it is exactly opposite of what some European members are expecting the rest of us from outside Europe to do to back up our position when it comes whether CDs were released in a particular country, region or not. Alternately, many of our CDs are internationalised without our knowledge or consent on the basis of matching cat#s and barcode. For those of us in the rest of the world it comes across as though there are two sets of rules one for Europe and one for everywhere else. It may not be intentional but there seems to be concerted attempt to Internationalise as few European CDs as possible and as many as possible from elsewhere. The feeble arguments and cries of prove it on this page are testimony to this being the case.

I don't often take a peak into this part of the site much anymore and this endless kerfuffle is the reason why. I would estimate that at least 40-50 percent of the back catalogues released in Europe or the US have also been released in Australia but I just can't be bothered having to prove it to the enth degree (secondary cat#s anyone?) anytime I put this idea forward on a particular CD. When are the new sensible guidelines coming out? Over and out (well, of CD World for at least a week).

You may discuss my comments here but don't expect a response from me I've migrated to Books where things are bit more clear cut.

If this was for sale in the USA it must be made International it is after all the very same identical release and all the early releases with no barcode should be made International if they have the same cat#.

Rolling Stones - Blue & Lonesome (2016)
Review
This album has shot to No. 1 in the UK (11/12/16) and is widely being heralded as the best thing the Stones have done since God knows when, but is it? Well, in some ways it is. It's certainly the most consistently good album they've made for a very long time but that can be put down to the fact the none of the songs were written by Jagger/Richard(s). The Stones' songwriting team have been off form for many years. So on Blue and Lonesome there are no original songs but the blues covers selected are all classics and excellent choices.
That said the songs chosen also reflect artists that had a big influence on the Stones sound particularly in their early years. Many reviews are making a link from this album their eponymous debut The Rolling Stones and touting it as a return to their roots as a band. So how does it compare to their debut which incidentally currently has an average rating of between 5 and 6 on this site. Well on Blue And Lonesome the playing is tighter and the production is better but is it a better album? I'd say no for several reasons.
My main beef is that the album contains a highly predictable set of covers that are pretty much faithful reproductions of the original songs. The band still sound good but not much has been done to put their own mark on these old blues classics. John Lee Hooker's "The Healer" and "Mr. Lucky" are much better examples of how to update or tweak the blues for a modern audience.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like the Stones and listened to them a lot in my childhood because my Dad was a huge fan. The first live band I saw was the Stones in 1973 and I still have 15 or so of their albums in my collection so I do like the band. Songs the Stones covered on earlier albums are probably the main reason I started collecting and hunting down blues music in general. So I have the Stones to thank for this but I also have the original versions of every song on this album and quite frankly I prefer them to versions offered up here on Blue and Lonesome.
The album is a good introduction to Chicago blues and is well played by seasoned musicians but if you want the real thing search out The Chess Box or the original albums.
All in all Blue and Lonesome is a good Stones album of classic blues tracks but it lacks any real spark or identity of its own. A great album if you love the Stones so much hearing them run through some blues standards is enough to get you off. Average otherwise 5/10.

Spirit - The Collection (1991)
The first four Spirit albums were last released by Ode, Epic, CBS ten years ago (1996) with relevant bonus tracks. Then Repertoire re-released them again in 2008 with the same bonus tracks but Sony don't seem to realise the significance of Spirit as a band. While they'll never sell like major artists the influence Spirit has on musicians must surely be a enough to keep low numbers of these albums in permanent circulation. Yet they license their catalogue out rather than release it themselves. The quick buck is more important than a slow steady selling quality item it seems. Well, we all knew that but it is a shame to see artists of this stature prostituted out in this way. At least it's still available though.

Quick question, should this be linked to Metal Box? It is the same album but with a different title? The vinyl albums are linked here so I'll go ahead. They can always be unlinked if necessary. I'll try again later because I'm getting the couldn't find album message at the moment.

Surely this release and this release are the same and that should make this an International release. I can't recall standard jewel case and digipak versions of the same album with the same details ever being required to have separate entries. Is this a new part of the guidelines that I'm unaware of? Hmm... but this is CD World and any old crap seems to do around here. Comment written from the world of self imposed exile from entering CDs on 45 Worlds.

Added Promo postcard to be shuffled in to place. I'm not sure if the postcard was part of the official packaging but it arrived with my copy of the CD from where ever I ordered it from, either the band's website or the Rough Trade store. In the notes I referred to an 8 page booklet but really it is more of a two sided fold-out insert with the cover art on one side and the album info on the other.

Well, I'm not bothering to enter the other 6 CDs in this series I have until this one is sorted out by the MODS. If it isn't, I'll go the way of Jake Smarm with his 5000+ CDs and bugger off completely. This is just bullshit and a waste of everyone's time.

David Bowie - Low (1999)
Hi Greg, from this series I have the CDs Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, Station to Station, Low, Heroes, and Scary Monsters that all have the secondary UK Cat.No.(521 ----) you have mentioned. Also, I don't believe secondary cat #s are significant according to the current guidelines so I think all of the releases including USA and Canadian should be International regardless of whether or not they have a secondary UK cat no. or not. So, both Phil and I believe these should all be International. I'll add the missing booklet scans and a scan of my inlay to prove my copy is almost identical release to this listing. The one difference is that my copy doesn't have UK before the secondary cat# and if were going to get that particular we may as well scrap the International category because they will always be some slight differences beyond the cat#, barcode and date. I just see them as different editions of the same international release.
