TopPopper 7th Feb 2016		CD Album Radiohead - OK Computer (1997)	[YouTube Video] I think classical critics who would dismiss pop music should listen to this, in particular the great anthem, "from a great height" etc, with it's contrapuntal melody, which is as good as the theme from "Jupiter", for example (Holst).

TopPopper 6th Feb 2016		CD Album Various Artists - Mod Fave Raves Vol. 2 (2001)	"20 collectable modernist soul classics" - why not say it like it is - "20 collectable Tamla Motown classics"? What were they bothered about? You can't see the M word anywhere, and yet this is vintage Motown all the way.

TopPopper 11th Jan 2016		CD Album David Bowie - Hunky Dory (1990)	I was at school when a mate gave me a home cassette copy of this album - I swear it barely came out of my tape deck for the next year. Soon as I got a CD player, this and Ziggy Stardust were among the first batch of CDs I bought - and I've have had the copy pictured here for the last 25 years! An absolutely wonderful album - one of my all-time favourites.

I think the 28th would be right, though, as that was a Friday, and Ace changed their new release day to Friday from July this year, like the rest of the record industry."

"Tears of a Clown" for example was buried on an album for the first couple of years. Marvin's "Grapevine" was similarly rejected, and even his "What's Going On" album met with resistance.
