Traditionally, it meant a theatrical plot designed to appeal to the uncritical, you know, something "hokey;" but, in jazz parlance, it means "bunk" or "bullshit." That's why the band has titled its recent CD Tropic of Hokum -- to remind themselves and their listeners not to take anything too seriously, especially music. The term has seen the band riffing on a variety of possible titles in what they hope will be a series: Hokum Pokum, Smokin' Hokum, Hokum If Ya Got 'Em, Home Sweet Hokum, Mo' Better Hokum and, the band's favourite of the moment, If You Can't Beat 'Em, Hokum. whitewhale1965 26th Aug 2020		CD Album Lofihoney - Lofihoney (2001)	Lots of electronic effects, electric guitars, funky beats and other psychedelic sounds reminiscent of everything from Mort Garson to the Beatles and Beck. Every track is great - if you like that sort of thing. Found in a university radio station library, this looks to be a collection of demos that were packaged at home. The 2nd page was cut and glued to the back of the front image. The CD label has also been pasted onto a store-bought disc.
