Notes

As a promo, no UPC code.

Promotional CD single by the original 1954-55 members of Bill Haley and His Comets, produced as a tie-in with their performances in Branson, Mo. A full album was planned, but never released. This single, technically a promo, was made available for sale on Paxton's website.

Producer Gary Paxton is known for being the artist behind the Hollywood Argyles ("Alley Oop")...

...An all-star group of musicians who at the time were performing in Branson providing backing vocals, including Bill Medley (Righteous Brothers), Ronnie Prophet, Paul Revere (of Paul Revere and the Raiders), David Sommerville (The Diamonds), and Paxton himself (who adopted the moniker "Grandpa Rock").

23skidoo, I'm happy about that. I'll delete the last three comments soon, if that's okay with you.

23skidoo: it came up when I did a search for key words in your comments. However, I will put your comments back as a note. I accept the notes are for interesting additional facts about the CD or the artist. However, the info about The Hollywood Argyles should be left as a comment as it has really very little if nothing to do with this CD.

@ Pomegranate. The bit about the performers on the single should be left in the Notes for the purposes of people doing searches. Searches don't appear to bring up information in the Comments section, so someone looking for Hollywood Argyles and Righteous Brothers might miss this.

Better placed as a comment rather than the notes.

The odd title reminds me of Robert Johnson's no less odd lines, "You may bury my body down by the highway side / So my old evil spirit can catch a Greyhound bus and ride", from Me And The Devil Blues.

As of 2014 this is the most recent released studio recording by the original Comets, and the last studio recording with the band with bass player Marshall Lytle. 2023 edit: As it turned out, with the passing of Dick and Joey in the intervening years, this was their final known studio recording. It's possible Paxton recorded more with them but if he did, nothing has emerged as of 2023 and of course Paxton himself died about six years ago.
