GEMSMFAN 15th Jun 2015 | | CD SingleMadonna - Erotic (1992) | this is a "Export Issue"... the promo is U.S., the "PRO-CD-xxxx" is a U.S. catalog number sequence for U.S. Warner Group label CD promo singles.
it's possible the book was printed in the U.S. and imported.
GEMSMFAN 15th Jun 2015 | | CD SingleMadonna - Papa Don't Preach (7" Version) (1986) | the UK version was packaged in a clear (Euro popular) slimline case.
the U.S. version in a standard jewel case.
GEMSMFAN 15th Jun 2015 | | CD SingleRobert Cray - I'm Walkin' (2005) | FYI: you submitted the Sanctuary Label Code number: LC6448, as a catalog number.
SANPX368X is the catalog number for this promo.
Note: that number is at the bottom of the disc and on the cardboard sleeve back

GEMSMFAN 14th Jun 2015 | | CD SingleGenesis - Genesis (1987) | This qualifies as a 8" Laserdisc using CD Video "digital" sound (which explains the logo)... there are NO 8" CD's. Also, there are no CD's as thick as a laserdisc, which is like 2 CD's glued together, playing sides out.
The actual CD Video format was a 5" gold CD which included one "video/audio" only + 3 or 4 audio only tracks. This is ALL video, no "audio" only tracks.
You'll note, only PolyGram group labels issued CD Videos, so on Laserdiscs released by them, the logo would be printed, like here.
from Wikipedia:
"The term "CD Video" and its logo were also used on full-size (8- and 12-inch) PAL LaserDiscs with digital audio (for movies as well as for music titles), to distinguish them from the previous LaserVision format with analogue audio and, presumably, to leverage the consumer recognition of the successful CD Audio format. "

GEMSMFAN 25th Apr 2015 | | CD SingleThe Rolling Stones - Sexdrive (Single Edit) (1991) | this isn't on the "Rolling Stones" label? (lips & tongue logo?)
GEMSMFAN 13th Dec 2014 | | CD SingleKylie Minogue - Snippets (2002) | wouldn't this be a CDR promo?
@ 1:12 each, this is merely for the Kylie completist
GEMSMFAN 7th Nov 2014 | | CD SingleThe Rolling Stones - Terrifying (12" Remix) (1990) | the label on this really should be "Rolling Stones" .. has the lips/tongue logo
CBS Grammofoonplaten B.V. is not the brand... "CBS" would be, lips/tongue logo is "Rolling Stones".
Mod edit: changed
GEMSMFAN 7th Nov 2014 | | CD SingleCurtis Stigers - This Time (1995) | the LC number is a Label Code, not a catalog number
Mod edit: changed to what is probably the cat. #
GEMSMFAN 28th Jun 2014 | | CD SingleSting - Englishman In New York (1988) | the correct catalog number is CC 31007, note all the other A&M 3" CD's
CSIG# (note also in matrix), is a 3" CD U.S. code number
GEMSMFAN 11th May 2014 | | CD SingleJon Secada - Better Part Of Me (Target Stores Exclusive) (2000) | Included in the Target Stores edition of "Better Part Of Me" album.
GEMSMFAN 4th Apr 2014 | | CD SingleNick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Get Ready For Love (2005) | "LC" is a Label Code number. Thoughout Europe, most labels and sublabels were assigned these numbers to identify a label.
GEMSMFAN 29th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleGeri Halliwell - Bag It Up (2000) | If this is UK, then shouldn't the catalog number be CDEMS560?, with the all numerals EMI number being the alternate? The back of insert image, shows the UK number under the bar code.
I notice the disc only has the all numeral number, so it really should be Europe.
The UK number ought to be the alternate, since it only is printed on the J-card insert.
GEMSMFAN 16th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleAce Of Base - Cruel Summer (Radio Edit) (1998) | this should be just Polydor, if it's submitted as German.
Mega logo appears because that was Ace of Base's Danish (Scandanavian) label. Barclay logo also appears (used in France). It's like seeing Polar printed on a Polydor release by ABBA.
Doubt, if anyone else will submit under your created dual Label
GEMSMFAN 12th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleGloria Estefan - Nayib's Song (I Am Here For You) (1991) | This is clearly submitted in Discogs, as a Dutch release and you contributed to the that submission.
GEMSMFAN 12th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleGloria Estefan - Always Tomorrow (1992) | Wesco83 (Aug. 8, 2013) - "If it was strictly a dutch promo none of the back info would be in English."
GEMSMFAN 12th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleGloria Estefan - Nayib's Song (I Am Here For You) (1991) | your image re-edited (straightened and made larger and encircled). I can't enlarge it anymore, as your original is of somewhat poor quality already. If this was a photo... photos aren't sharp enough vs. a scanner. I tried to restore the original color which is really a deep blue using PS, but couldn't as the CD text blackens too much.
GEMSMFAN 8th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleGloria Estefan - Tres Deseos (Three Wishes) (Album Version) (1995) | the catalog number clearly doesn't run in sequence. this probably was 1995, not 1996.
you submitted copyrights of 1995. your submission follows Gloria Estefan promo ESK 7508.. doesn't make sense?? All commercial releases are 1995, that are linked here??
GEMSMFAN 8th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleCeline Dion - My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme From 'Titanic') (1997) | shouldn't tracks 3 and 4 (duets) have been submitted as duets "Celine Dion With Clive Griffin" and "Celine Dion With Peabo Bryson"?? They're not being credited to a opened link as duets.
Celine Dion And Peabo Bryson
Celine Dion And Clive Griffin
Mod note: changed and updated artists.

GEMSMFAN 7th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleGloria Estefan - Hotel Nacional (Razor-N-Guido Club Mix) (2011) | Gloria is standing in front of a white Chevy Corvair.
GEMSMFAN 5th Jan 2014 | | CD SingleGloria Estefan - Wepa (R3hab Remix) (2011) | how many mixes can one have?

GEMSMFAN 13th Nov 2013 | | CD SingleGloria Estefan - Wrapped (Album Version) (2003) | I'm curious how you would know the tracks that were on an unreleased single?
GEMSMFAN 6th Sep 2013 | | CD SingleCeline Dion And Clive Griffin - When I Fall In Love (1993) | this is a card sleeve, quite often only a 2-tracker.
GEMSMFAN 20th Aug 2013 | | CD SingleMadness - Lovestruck (1999) | this isn't a CD Video.. just a CD single including an enhanced video portion.
Enhanced CD's won't play in a DVD player, that is the enhanced portion, only the audio will. Enhanced portion requires a computer drive as it is a CD-ROM.
GEMSMFAN 18th Aug 2013 | | CD SingleShakespears Sister - Goodbye Cruel World (1991) | Note the stickers... front was a price sticker, back a number sticker. It used to really annoy me, how shops would sticker merchandise and those stickers were in many cases not removable without ruining the packaging because they had a heavy glue to prevent price switching.
the back numbered sticker, was as a result of many shops opting for the "Lift" system...
CD racking which would only hold empty cases, sleeves and the discs were stored in cabinets behind the sales counter. You'd bring the packaging w/number to the counter and they would
match it up with the disc on a holder with the corresponding number. This also meant every disc was being handled by the shop personnel, with some very careless at fingerprinting discs!
