There is no barcode given in the entry, and unfortunately, my copy has had the front cut away from the back of the card sleeve, so that it goes into a slimline jewel case - therefore I have no back.. only chopped front and disc in standard case.

Magic Marmalade 12th Apr 2020		CD Single Beeb Birtles - Someday (2000)	That's an odd one. I wonder if it could be some strange slimline case version of a fatbox style case, whereby this could be the back section of a double case - the front counterpart could be out there somewhere, with the cover facing "the right way"? I sometimes come across cd albums in charity shops that look like this when they are missing their front cover and disc, and someone has just inserted it into a single disc case. (As it is a single track disc, which has, by the looks of it, the title of the track in the inner ring where the matrix is, I'd favour the idea it's a promo)

Magic Marmalade 8th Apr 2020		CD Single The Cure - Cut Here (2001)	I'm wondering, with these cover-less promo issues, if the simple stickered case might be better lead images, as this is how you would find them when and if you encounter them... and so you might not see the disc, and so not recognise it as a promo from that alone. What are the tribe's feelings about this? :)

Magic Marmalade 7th Apr 2020		CD Single Kraftwerk - The Robots (1991)	Just remembered I ripped my "Red text" disc to hard drive, and played and compared to RecordDragon's video upload of: The Robots (Single Edit), which is as listed on my drive as being this... and they certainly are different. The only versions of Robotnik I can see on Youtube are the full versions, but not the single edit version of that, so no way to offer comparison on the edited version. But I'm inclined to agree, and therefore would confirm that the one listed on my red text cover disc as The Robots (Single Edit) is in fact: Robotnik (Single Edit). (Which means I don't actually have the single edit of The Robots on my drive... bum. :(
Magic Marmalade 6th Apr 2020		CD Single Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (Single Version) (1991)	I think the dictionary definitition of "CD" is "an unresolvable thumping headache for the unwary who venture into its murky world. Problem is with CDs of any kind, is that they represent a mirror of the manufacture and market place of the times... and so everything gets shifted about as time goes on, and it all gets a bit ad hoc, with companies making it up as they go... so there are no general hard and fast rules which you can apply to all cds over the format's lifetime.... to attempt to do so is folly, as nothing will add up when one set of standards is used or another. Hey Ho, Just keep ploughing the field chaps... and eventually we'll turn these taters into chips.
Magic Marmalade 6th Apr 2020		CD Single Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (Single Version) (1991)	I have rejected the request to separate these, and I am going to leave it as is. ...The reasons are that firstly, although discogs only has a single disc version of this (without Bohemian Rhapsody disc) - (Blocked from sale as bootleg anyway), elsewhere on the net, independently of us, it can be found in this form / assembly: here... ..And, of course, two members here own it, so it cannot be said to be one member (submitter) with uniquely inaccurate (illegitimate) copy. ...so it does exist, and is / was available, and so it is possible that others may come across it, and search here (among other places) for it. On discovering that we may have separated it, they may add the piece we separated, thinking it was simply an incomplete listing... and I'll be endlessly chasing it round the site, deleting and separating and for no justifiable reason. (Or an entire new entry would be made to accommodate both anyway, so back to square one again) And as this site is for information purposes, it wouldn't help anyone who came across a copy in this form, if they couldn't find the information they were looking for in this page. I think the discussion on this page alone stands as very informative in this regard, for anyone in this position, so job done as far as that is conerned. If anyone wants to submit a request to add a summary of this to notes, I'll be happy to add that there.
Magic Marmalade 5th Apr 2020		CD Single Kraftwerk - The Robots (1991)	According to disocgs, the version seen here with the red writing on the cover is the first verison which is mispressed with the wrong version of one of the tracks... and the one with the white writing on the cover is the later, corrected issue. Anecdotal, of course, but if true, perhaps warranting a separate entry?

Can you tell me if there is anything to indicate that this is a promotional item, "not for sale" or such anywhere on it, or the packaging you keep it in - or even where you got it from (Radio station etc.) as it is only one track by the looks of it, so would seem to suggest as much.

But while Baktabak may not be regarded as unofficial label here, surely the package (they, presumably) have assembled must be (?) So even if Baktabak are legit, the package as a whole (which two members own) must be regarded as unoffical? (even though it includes an official product element- parlophone)

Baktabak are an unofficial issuer, but Parlophone are not, having difficulty seeing how they would issue something together. ...Or was this perhaps, creatively assembled by whoever sold it to you perhaps?
