A Hard Day's Night (1964) (1964)
Funny, I was just thinking earlier today of the "Help!" movie - sure that's always "not as good" as this one for most but it had some wonderful ideas like the daft captions, intermission bit and irreverent humour that for 1965 was not at all shabby and a cut above many better regarded films.

One thing for certain, they sure turned in impressive songs for the soundtracks!

Guinea Pig (Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment) (1985) (1985)
No... I can't stomach films of this type... like Dr Doom, I'm a bit too squeamish and fail to derive any entertainment from watching people get murdered in gory ways... but, I enjoy reading crime and murder non fiction books, so...

Macbeth (1971) (1971)
I saw this in a film theatre in around 1991/1992 and recall it being a very grim experience almost derailed at the very start. I've told this story a few times over the years but it's worth repeating since it was a funny moment. I went to see it with an ex-mate who had spent the mid 70's to late 80's living on a different continent.

Anyway, the film starts and the credits are going along. The name of the final actor to be listed faded up onscreen and the entire theatre - including myself and excluding my mate - burst into laughter! After the film was over, we got outside and my mate asked the burning question "Why did everybody laugh during the opening credits?" I then did some quick mental arithmetic and realised he'd not lived in the UK whilst this certain person who caused the mirth had risen and fallen... how on Earth could I explain the one and only Keith Chegwin to him?

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) (1968)
There were apparently many who went to see this in cinemas in 1968 who were under the influence of illegal substances because it was supposed to be even more trippier - like the infamous stargate ot starfield section. Technically it's a stunning film, but on drugs? It's actually bloody bleak and I'd guess induced a few bad trips!
