Arvo Pärt
Artist

Writing at first 12-tone music for which he was censured by the Soviet authorities, he continued to work as a radio producer and film composer until he converted to a romantic style using conventional harmonies. He was then unable to find work in the then Soviet state so he emigrated to Austria and then Berlin until he was able to return to Tallin following Estonian independence.
He had converted from Lutheranism to Orthodox Christianity and his compositions were thereafter liturgical or of a spiritual nature.

Brilliant Classics

Brilliant Classics is a Dutch label, that began its budget label in the 80s as soon as CDs became popular. Its first albums were mainly distributed through discount shops and a pharmacy like "Het Kruidvat".

Sales soon began to pick up, and slowly some of their recordings became popular, sold out, and some artists like Erik Bosgraaf and others found their home at Brilliant Classics.

These days the label is well known and distribution of their albums goes through the classical music shops and sections to the customers. For some of its recordings better venues could be chosen, but Brilliant Classics is also known for artistic freedom to its artists, and right now it is almost unthinkable that the label will disappear. It has earned a place among other labels as Deutsche, Decca, Naxos, etc.

Tomaso Albinoni
Artist

Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni, 1671 – 1751. One of Albinoni's best-known works seems to have been a fraud perpetrated on the musical world by his 20th Century cataloguer Remo Giazotto, who claimed to have transcribed an unknown work of Albinoni's, "Adagio in G minor". He published this in 1958 and it was quickly assimilated into the Classical repertoire and became a popular favourite following its use in films and as a television theme tune. In 1965 Giazotto claimed full credit for the work in the hope of claiming the royalties from its performance.

Victor Herbert
Artist

Born in Ireland, Herbert grew up in London and Stuttgart and started his career in Germany and Vienna but moved to New York City. He subsequently worked also in Chicago. Many of his works were performed on Broadway, and he assisted in the founding of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).

Münchener Bach-Chor
Artist

Heinrich-Schütz-Kreis was founded in the post-war period by Wilhelm Kamlah who was succeeded by Professor Michael Schneider, to promote the performance of the music of Heinrich Schütz.
In 1951 the choir came under the leadership of conductor and organist Karl Richter and in 1954 the choir was renamed Münchener Bach-Chor to perform a wider repertoire from the Baroque to the contemporary.
