ppint. 4th Dec 2022		Classical Item Norman Del Mar And The English Chamber Orchestra - Noye's Fludde (1961)	trainman (if you're still shuffling around these mortal coils°°, after this, so brief a delay): big sis might be, but only little bother° is still welcome at old brasside house, next to the high- & maximum(still?)- security prison, out of the surviving three of her siblings; he's due to visit the north-wet again in a fortnight-to-three-weeks before going on to pink panther county, so i'll certain^W serpently°° give him the news. ° - the russian for ''brother'' is ''brat'' - or near enough (the transliteration isn't quite exact). . . °° - ''i am the wyrm!'' - track by hedgehog pie from their ep, ''the lambton worm''°°° °°° - reissued on hedgehog pie as a bonus set (of tracks), i think mastered direct from the vinyl, rather than remixed from the original tapes

ppint. 20th Jun 2017		Classical Item The Brindisi String Quartet - Britten / Bridge / I Holst: String Quartets (1994)	i don't have this reissue, nor have i held & been able to note down the details from the cd: so i could not enter it as an item here. an image of the disc and one of the rear insert, or the information from these, would be good confirmation of its existence.

ppint. 8th May 2017		Classical Item King's College Choir, Cambridge - Music Of Byrd, Palestrina, Victoria, Philips, Gabrielli, Lassus	*bright beetroot blush!* - no, i don't think yr hmbl srppnt. could so lightly dismiss it. . . - it mayn't be a blunder quite on the scale of diddy david porkypieminister cameron's in calling for a referendum on the move to qualified majority voting on non-reserved matters, insisting that, if other countries were having a referendum, we should have one "or even two!", and promising that if he gained power we would have, even though the move to qualified majority voting would've long been accomplished (or not) by the time any referendum could be held. . .° - but a bodaciously big blunder it was, and still is. giovanni pierluigi da, de or di palestrina. . .°° ° - yup, that is why we've now got our dearly-beloathed deranged dalek of a prime monster and would-be empress or dictator taking us out of the dreaded ee-yeww!, no matter what the cost °° - crawls off to cry & hide, or vice-versa (actually, to finish the lunchtime pint of fizzy, cold cider in the chieftain, morecambe°°°, before catching the five past four 755 to kendal, windermere & bowness (but not going beyond kendal today) & eating breakfast/brunch/light lunch on the way) °°° - aka "the last resort"

ppint. 6th Nov 2016		Classical Item Mitsuko Uchida, English Chamber Orchestra, Jeffrey Tate - Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos. 20 And 21 (1986)	ms mm'lade: yes, it's more normally a matter of interest to 45catters comparing different issues of singles which may or may not be the same edits, the same mixes, the same recordings, etc. as one another, and/or the lp tracks of the songs; - but the timings of classical pieces also indicate how one conductor's approach to e.g. elgar's variations on an original theme (aka "the enigma variations") differs from another's - including sir edward elgar's, which may be of interest to classical music browsers somewhat less keen on changes in label designs and the forms of matrix numbers, than seems liable to be the case on 45cat.. . - so i thought it worth checking.

ppint. 30th Oct 2015		Classical Item Boys Of The Westminster Cathedral Choir With George Malcolm - Missa Brevis (1960)	a fine performance of britten's short-form mass, let down - only a little - by the choristers' diction, and the then-fashionable° "thin" sound of the first and second trebles' voices. - reissued on a decca group lp - and, i trust, available on cd transfer somewhere in the deutsche grammophon group's catalogue - even, perhaps, remastered from the original tapes, dare one hope? ° - and for many years the fashion, i understand, for boys' voices in english church choirs.

ppint. 28th Jun 2015		Classical Item Alexis Weissenberg - Bach • Goldberg Variations (1992)	i've already expressed my opinion as to the sense, or lack thereof, of including non-performing, and frequently dead - sometimes for centuries - composers in the artist(s) field, here on classicalcat - and raised the sense, or lack thereof, as a forums topic 4/6/2015 - where someone, and the only one to have responded when last i looked, advised me 7/6/2015 that this was indeed correct, and desirable, practice, etc, etc. (i cannot claim that i was convinced by such argument(s) in favour of the practice as they advanced but, as they're of semi-divine status, and as no-one else's expressed an opinion. . .) (i believe that the confirmation of the practice being the classicalcat way came from gill sans.)
