albert 2nd May 2019		Live Music Kaleidoscope @ 229 (2015)	I am reluctant to list the headliners as The Misunderstood as it was just Glen Campbell backed by The Loons, who had already played. For the encore they were joined by members of Juicy Lucy, which meant that on stage there were 3 members of Juicy Lucy, all of The Loons and (I think) just Glen from The Misunderstood (but he was also a member of Juicy Lucy). Very strange.

albert 4th Apr 2019		Live Music La Femme @ O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire (2016)	Hi Lee, my enjoyment of the gig was kinda dampened by the young, mainly French expatriot audience - I had a seat on level one and when the band appeared the 2 rows in front of me all stood up and proceeded to woop and feverishly clap and bounce about like hyperactive five year olds, thus forcing everybody behind to stand up too - for the entire gig. You would think that the band were super exciting, but regrettably they mostly stood knob-twiddling beside programmed synths, ...and also they mainly played the new stuff that we hadn't yet heard. To be fair they had been going for about 5 years and were probably tired of the tracks from Psycho Tropical Berlin, but the new stuff that I heard did not tempt me to buy their then new Mystere album at the merch stall. (I did eventually buy the album in the sales, two years later, and it is disappointing compared to the brilliance of PTB). I'd say the band were average on the day, the female singer is poor live, and the reliance on synths was a let down. Still they were better than the support band.

albert 21st Mar 2019		Live Music The Girls [Boston] @ The Rathskeller (The Rat) (1979)	A legendary venue, even I know of it and I haven't even visited USA let alone Boston so it is a bit of a surprise that I had to enter venue details for The Rat, before adding this gig. People have added hundreds of gigs in Boston but why nothing for The Rat? OK, I added this listing so I could link it to The Girls CD, looks like this date was also an early one for The Lyres (previous members in DMZ), and La Peste (who released one collectable single back in their day). The Rathskeller got demolished sometime in 1990s I think.

Unfortunately I cannot get on their official website as it has crashed, or something, and I cannot find the facebook page that I got the details from last week. If you want to go you will definitely need to confirm where exactly it is that the band are playing.

albert 11th Aug 2018		Live Music Stereolab @ The Forum (1996)	We managed to miss Broadcast as they were on very early, but someone kindly put the gig on youtube [YouTube Video] We missed Broadcast and then had to put up with Tortuous, sorry Tortoise, with their tedious noodling and their whooping & high-fiving after every dreary song. Bloody awful they were and they went on forever, thank god for Stereolab who came on after and did one of their best gigs.
