About "Hey Las Bas":
Dave Bartholomew is credited as the main songwriter, but he changed the lyrics of an original Creole song, and put a more rocking beat behind it.
The original song was first recorded by The Creole Stompers in 1944, but it was Kid Ory who had the first "hit" with the song as "Eh Las Bas" in 1946.
BTW: Harrison Verrett played in that band, but not on that record.
