stoutfellow51 1st Sep 2024 | | CD AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Between The Buttons | This release is the UK version of the album which has a different track listing from the US (and some other territories) version
stoutfellow51 29th Apr 2024 | | CD AlbumMichael Oldfield - Heaven's Open | By now Mike had reached the end of his contractual obligations to Virgin and he was eager to move on to another record company.
This album, his last for Virgin, definitely has an "end of contract" feel to it and though it is workmanlike and is pleasant to listen to it certainly doesn't attempt to push any boundaries.
stoutfellow51 16th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Pot Luck | Very much a mixed bag collection, the dearth of decent songs available at the time meant that some of the tracks on this album would never have seen the light of day in normal circumstances.
Kiss Me Quick was lifted off the album and released as a single in Dec 1963 but failed to make the top ten.
stoutfellow51 20th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones No. 2 | Noticed that the controversial blind man text on the rear sleeve has been reinstated for this release.
This was censored and ultimately removed by Decca on reissued versions in the 1960s and later on into the 1970s.

stoutfellow51 26th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumCat Stevens - Teaser And The Firecat | The orange label issue dates from 1975. I picked up a pristine copy just the other week.

stoutfellow51 24th Oct 2023 | | CD AlbumThe Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones + 8 Bonus | Definitely counterfeit as Decca UK lost the rights to Stones material in 1970. Now all pre 1970 Stones back catalogue is owned by Abkco.
stoutfellow51 23rd Oct 2023 | | CD AlbumThe Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones No.2 | CD release of the UK version of this album. In the USA this came under the title of The Rolling Sones Now! but with a substantially different track listing.
stoutfellow51 20th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Harem Holiday | This soundtrack album goes by two different titles, depending which country it was released in- Harum Scarum & Harem Holiday.
The release date seems to fluctuate between Dec 65 and Jan 66, again this is dependent on the country of origin.
The film looks to have retained the Harum Scarum title with no variations.
stoutfellow51 16th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) | A UK release date of 1966 is correct for this album, It falls between Pet Sounds and Best of The Beach Boys in UK release order.
The album itself was recorded/released in the USA about one year earlier (1965) than it was in the UK but for some reason it was subsequently held back even though it had already been allocated a catalogue number in the UK : T2354.
It went on to reach number 4 in the UK album charts, probably on the strength of its predecessor Pet Sounds.
stoutfellow51 16th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumBeach Boys - Beach Boys Greatest Hits | The infamous "re-processed stereo" rears its' ugly head here, which is a shame because there would have been nothing wrong with just using the original mono versions.
Besides which, most record players in use at that time didn't have the capability to play in stereo.
stoutfellow51 16th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - The Best Of The Beach Boys Vol. 3 | Original rainbow labels which pre-date later yellow ones.
stoutfellow51 16th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - The Best Of The Beach Boys | Added first UK pressing (Nov 66) rainbow label showing Capitol symbol left of centre. This pre-dates the later rainbow pressing uploaded by Quadpoint.
stoutfellow51 16th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - Pet Sounds | The rainbow Capitol label from 1960s is one of those classic "must-haves" for vinyl collectors, along the lines of black/yellow Parlophone for instance.
Its good to see the original with the "Capitol" symbol on the side as well as the one with the symbol at the top from a couple of years later.
The rainbow label has now been revived on all new releases of the album on vinyl as well as on CD.
stoutfellow51 2nd Oct 2023 | | CD AlbumThe Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones | This album was only made in Mono so any Stereo versions are likely to be of the "Electronically Re-Processed" mish mash which never comes across as pleasing to the ear.
For the best effect and reproduction of this great album stick with the Mono releases on vinyl as well as on CD.
stoutfellow51 29th Sep 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - The Best Of Elvis | Discogs have it listed as an"Unofficial" release made in the USA 1984
As others have pointed out it is a replica of the 1957 British original and no doubt will make the odd appearance at Record Fairs with unscrupulous dealers trying to pass it off as the genuine article.
Buyer beware !
stoutfellow51 29th Sep 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - The Best Of Elvis | Despite only having 10 tracks this hard to find album is much such sought after by Elvis collectors.
Anything from the short time that Elvis' UK records were relesed on the HMV is collectable as far as the fans are concerned, ranging from Shellac 78s to LPs like this one and the high prices paid reflect the demand for original copies.
All of the songs on this compilation will be have been duplicated on RCA but it is this 10 inch HMV plum label LP with the uninspiring cover that the collectors want.

stoutfellow51 9th Jun 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - How Great Thou Art | [YouTube Video]
stoutfellow51 9th Jun 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - How Great Thou Art | The two outstanding tracks on this album are Where No One Stands Alone and the title track How Great Thou Art which was performed by Elvis in concert in the latter part of his career.
stoutfellow51 8th Jun 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley With The Jordanaires - Something For Everybody | Uploaded 1969 small orange label issue, it was still being marketed in the original 1961 RCA sleeve.
stoutfellow51 3rd Jan 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Out Of Our Heads | All the indications are that this is a Mono release.
stoutfellow51 3rd Oct 2022 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - The Decca Audition | The Decca sessions, recorded on 1 January 1962 in West Hampstead. The original vinyl 1979 issue and all subsequent releases seem to have come from a tape gifted to a third party in the 1960s by Brian Epstein. The Beatles have owned the tape since the 1980s and took legal action confirming that they owned the copyright in 1989.
These recordings and the releases that contain them are thus unofficial under current copyright law.
stoutfellow51 26th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Blue Hawaii | Uploaded 19697/1970 front cover image, unable to track down a rear cover for this particular variant (mono)
stoutfellow51 10th Mar 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - 1 | The exclusion of Please Please Me strongly suggests that it never made it to Number One in either the US or UK charts.
stoutfellow51 25th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Where No One Stands Alone | [YouTube Video]
stoutfellow51 17th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumElvis Presley - Kid Galahad / Girls! Girls! Girls! | Tracks 20-23 were not on the original 1962 Girls! Girls! Girls! album
stoutfellow51 17th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumElvis Presley - It Happened At The World's Fair / Fun In Acapulco | This collection omits the two non-movie bonus tracks that were included on the original 1963 Fun In Acapulco vinyl release- Love Me Tonight & Slowly But Surely
stoutfellow51 4th Oct 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Roustabout | RCA International Green label and front cover (without stickers) added
stoutfellow51 4th Oct 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Roustabout | This is the same as Roustabout from 1977 (PL 43625). The only difference is the sticker glued to the top left corner of the cover. It reads "RCA International" and the reverse "RCA International INTS 5110 (NL 43625) Cassette INTK 5110". Labels are exactly the same as Elvis Presley - Roustabout PL 43625 and the sleeve is the same as 1977. Matrix also responds to a previous release. Probably the previous vinyl copies had been surplus stock and put on sale later with a new INTS release number at a budget price.
