WE went to see this show last night. Superb - Really enjoyed it - plenty of good classic rock. They also performed good versions of "Sound of Silence" "Tainted Love" and a fantastic version of Hazel O'Connor's "Will You" - The audience was on their feet. Great Stuff.

We went to last night’s show at Venue Cymru in Llandudno. From where we sat (row T) they looked like, moved like and sounded very much like the real thing. They made several costume changes as they moved through the various stages of Beatles 1960's dress (including wigs, moustaches and John's round glasses) . Excellent show. They had a keyboard player for some songs, a string section and a brass section for some of the later 1960’s songs. (Penny Lane - Strawberry Fields etc. ) They had the audience on their feet singing along and dancing. A great show from a very good tribute band.
Typically, each gig consists of performances of songs from four eras. For the 2023 Tour, these are:-
Part One: Cavern Club (1962-1963):
Part Two: Beatlemania and the touring years (1964–1966):
(Interval)
Part Three: Magical Mystery Tour (1967):
Part Four: The Get Back sessions and rooftop concert (1969):

Bandit were the support act and by the third time I saw them I decided to buy their album. Not bad- average would be a fair description. They came across better live than on record (as do lots of groups)
I had seen John Miles before and knew what to expect, and he didn't disappoint giving good performances and setlists of songs that we all know. Excellent.

Had a good seat about row three centre stage. Richard & Linda Thompson were the support act. Wow!!! I didn’t realise how good a guitar player Richard Thompson was. He was excellent and they were a strong support act, getting everyone in the mood with their close harmonies and intricate guitar work.
Gerry Rafferty opened up with “The Ark” from the “City to City” album and the crowd responded noisily. He had them in his pocket from then on. He couldn’t fail with the band line up he had which included Rafael Ravenscroft. Excellent gig with Gerry in fine form.

It was Easter Sunday 1982 when they played the Liverpool Empire. They weren’t that well known over here but had released several albums two of which were very good. One of these was the 1981 release “Marauder” which was absolutely brilliant in my opinion and would still get into my top ten albums of all time. On the night they were something else. I had been to loads of gigs over the years and have never seen a group that could generate such atmosphere. I still haven’t seen anything like it and the only one that came close was DIO at the Manchester Apollo in 1983.
Rickey Medlocke and Charlie Hargrett were big guys, dressed in long denim coats swapping off on lead guitars were quite awesome to look at and the quality of the sound was excellent. Their setlist was superb, playing everyone’s favourites.
My elder brother was with me. He’s not been very well of late having had several strokes and heart surgery but he loves to talk about this night in 1982.
Probably the most memorable gig I’ve been to. I saw a “Version” of Blackfoot at the Hard Rock Hell a few years ago – no original members. Absolute crap by comparison. Ricky Medlocke is now in Lynyrd Skynyrd, who he was in for a spell in their early days around 1971

There were three of us and we got to the venue about 10am and made for the seating area right by the royal box as we thought this would give us the best view, near where we could access the facilities – food, drinks, toilets etc. and keep our seats. I seem to remember that we sat on wooden benches until the concert finished sometime after 10pm. To say I had a sore a**e would be an understatement.
I had not heard much of Jesse Colin Young but his set was very good and I bought two albums of his the next day which are not bad really. I was a big fan of “The Band” and they were excellent with Rick Danko in fine form. I was also a huge Joni Mitchell fan and still think that she was one of the very best singer songwriters of that genre. She was brilliant on the day. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were very good and Joni came on to join them at some stage. ( I have their performance on a bootleg CD) so can still indulge in nostalgia.
The price of food and drink was “Staggering” compared to other venues we went to about that time. The royal box was interesting with celebrities seemingly coming and going – Robert Plant – Britt Ekland – Adam Faith to name a few.
We could only get into a posh hotel in Kensington (I think) for the Saturday night and had room only, but we decided to have a breakfast before leaving – Very Posh. When we went to check out later on after a little shopping, they did not charge for breakfast although we had given our room numbers etc.
Overall a brilliant day out other than the fact that I had a John Wayne walk for a day or so.

Could only make the Sunday due to work commitments. The line ups were not the same as the schedule as I remember. Donovan put in an appearance and he wasn't in the schedule. Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane and Frank Zappa all gave good performances on the day. Led Zep in fine form with a good setlist as I remember. I was not a Frank Zappa fan but was quite impressed with his set. Grace Slick done a fine job fronting Jefferson Airplane.

Due to work commitments I only got there for the Sunday. Dreadful weather. The "Stewarding" was carried out by Gorillas ( some biker group - maybe hells angels) They told people to sit down even though it was wet and if they didn't obey, they were put down not too gently.
Lindisfarne were very good on the day as were Monty Python who performed the Parrot Sketch - Brilliant. At that time I was not much of a fan of Slade and liked some of the Beach Boys stuff, but not really a fan. Slade put on a blistering performance and were excellent. The Beach Boys put on a great show with a great sound considering the studio technology they used in recording. Very impressive.

I think that Mungo Jerry were the stars of this festival. They had just released "In The Summertime" which was played on all the radio stations. Free and Black Sabbath gave excellent performances. I seem to remember the "Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia " played a guitar solo that just went on and on an on. Of course the "Dead Heads" loved it. I was not impressed. I was never that keen on Jose Feliciano and felt that he was out of place here. A lovely weekend with decent weather and eveyone seemed to be in "Tie Dye" grandad shirts.
Don't remember too much about the other acts other than Ginger Baker playing stuff I didn't know.

In the UK (and some more countries) there were no picture sleeves. This would have been a very good one for their first 7"
