Ok - a new entry of the "Gold Inlay" Abbey Road has been established, to show the different track order of the earlier issue. Please could one of the Moderators remove all my scans of the gold inlay and white shell/blue ink cassette, for the sake of good order? Thanks in advance, BigT

Not really a different track listing, just the order of the songs is shuffled around. Would that still mean a separate entry?

Yes, to confirm, all issues go on the same page, unless separate cat#/label. The later Beatles tapes got reissued with a different track listing. That's an important change, and they should be listed separately.

Good point about the track sequencing. Pepper throws a spanner in the works though, as the tracks were never re-sequenced. I'm not bothered either way, as long as it's consistent.

There has been much debate on this subject on the Revolver page. The fact that the first edition has an alternate track listing probably means it deserves a separate entry. I guess it's down to the mods to decide what to do with the Beatles cassettes, but at the moment they seem to be causing quite a bit of confusion and disagreement!

Both have the same cat number. Re-issues generally don't go on a separate page, even if the appearance of the inlays changes, provided the album title and cat number are the same. If anything, the gold inlay should take precedence over the white inlay, as it is the earlier of the two - but if there is an even earlier one, then I think both of these should be moved to there.

Biggie, your scans should have a separate entry as they are a later pressing of the original 1969 cassette release rather than the 1987 re-issue.

Added scans of the 1977-1982-period “light-brown gold colour” inlay and “white shell-blue ink” cassette.

1 cassette, white cassette shell, printed with blue ink. Apple logo. Dolby B Double-D logo. Side two peters out on the track listing printing: “… Bathroom Window etc.”

1 inlay, Front: light-brown Gold-inlay series, printer identification not listed on inner flap. Song titles, composer and publishing info. Note: No Apple logo on back flap, plus “An EMI Recording” written on the inner flap…

Track order is messed up again – UNLIKE the 8-track this time – here only the first tracks of each side of the original LP have swapped places. (Web-watchdogs: Does this mean it warrants a separate issue? If so, be my guest ;-))

Inlay reverse: Upper-case-lettered “this stereo musicassette…” info, plus EMI blurb – black ink.

Presumed date would be around 1981 for printing – Light brown gold colour on inlay (dates to c. 76-85); white shell, blue ink (dates to c. 77-82). Cassette bought in ’82.
