I've been uploading some old US "TV Guides" to the site recently, but they hardly ever appear in the "Latest Update" section on the main page.
Yesterday, I uploaded six entries and none appeared on the main page...silence...crickets chirping. Then along comes someone else who uploads one magazine and bang, there it is on the front page.
I don't get it. Should I just move along and leave this place to its slumber?
Hi. Please don't move along - stick with it. Your contributions are welcome.
The magazines were flagged as being added by a new contributor. As you can imagine, when new contributors add to the site, their mags need to be checked for suitability and so on. It happens to us all.

Thanks TopPopper. I guess I can understand that. I am new to 45worlds, but over at 45cat, I've posted over 3,000 record labels, so I have the basic concept pretty much down.

As TopPopper said bear with us Mods. I browse magazine worlds only now and then but was looking at your contributions and they are great - keep them coming. I like the Love Boat edition of the TV guide especially with the mention of Carl Sagan on the cover

Thanks Sladesounds,
I thought, at one time about two decades ago, that I wanted to collect TV Guides but, in the days before the interwebs, they were just too hard to find. They were, after all, meant to be used a week and then thrown away. That's what most everyone did. I finally gave up on the quest, and used my collecting bug in other areas.
I have a question for you, for TopPopper, and any others from the British Isles. Did you guys ever get programs like "The Love Boat", "The Carol Burnett Show", "The Jeffersons", or "One Day At A Time" over there, or are all these TV Guides from the States just odd curiosities?
I must admit, I don't recognise most of the covers. I remember Rhoda from when I was a kid, so that was definitely broadcast in the UK - I see she was on the front of one of them. The Love Boat sounds familiar too, I think that was shown here in the late 70s. Was it something to do with Fantasy Island (which I also remember - The planes! The planes!)
I wouldn't be surprised if the others were shown here too - I just can't recall. We did have a lot of US comedies and dramas in those days - classics like Mork & Mindy, Diff'rent Strokes, Wonder Woman - you name it!

Hey, I lived through it here in the States, and I don't remember a lot of these shows. Every Fall the networks would throw a bunch of new series against the wall to see which ones would stick, and a lot of them didn't.
Back in the 70s, before we had cable around here, there were only the three networks, ABC, CBS, and NBC, along with Public Broadcasting, a commercial free public supported channel. Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) is the only one to ever air shows from your side of the pond. I remember very well when I first saw "No, Honestly" when it aired on PBS. I think it ran on Sunday nights. I would try to remember to catch it when it came on.
PBS still airs shows from the UK. "Waiting For God" is one that's been running over here for a good while. Good show.
Carol Burnett was also a singer and has a few singles on 45cat. 'The Jeffersons' I half remembered the existing of, some segments on YT, the show in part grew out of 'All In The Family' With only 3 main channels in the UK, the odd IBA regional franchise sometimes bought in overseas programmes that were not seen in all of the UK.
Generally , (but not always) USA serials were aired by ITV rather than BBC ( Dallas perhaps being the greatest exception)
With the TV Guides most of 'my collection' are on their way to the recycling bins, (no space to store), any recent stuff anyone wants (free collected, hideous mailing costs), get in quick. Mum has done some of the crosswords. Its debatable- if there was enough interest that TV guide magazines (when including Newspaper Inserts) are quite a variety to deserve a world apart on their own.
Perhaps one of the interesting things of TV Listings are the adverts in them, which get more of interest over time, oh well, todays trash will be tomorrows treasure (but wont cover the storage costs!)
Noticed that early to mid 60s editions of Radio Times selling for ~ £200 on the net, even more recent can be £5-£8 depending on subject matter /contents.

This is where I meant to put my comment, and it's this.
I've always liked the way British TV stations identified themselves on-air. I remember well names like Granada, Thames/London Weekend, Tyne Tees, Heritage, HTV West, Anglia, Trident, ATV and others, though most, if not all those stations are now either long gone, or exist only as production companies these days. We saw the logos on our screens in Australia at the start of shows like Benny Hill, On The Buses, Please Sir, etc. And here are our stations hiding behind channel numbers instead of using their corporate names as their on-air identities. I cringe when I compare the two. But I've got to laugh when I see one of the newer stations on-air up there in Britain, Living TV, their schedule seems to contain shows about ghosts and dead people, so ironic!
There are 'vintage' and other television fan websites around, its difficult to keep up with them all, along with the modern freeview/freesat/paysat TV channels.
The content and interest of Cat and Worlds, crosses over to worlds with TV Tie-In magazines , and so much music on the telly , present day and from the past including re-hashes, clips and so-on as well as science commentry on CDs , Cassettes and so on.

There used to be a 'Comedy Hour' in the UK in the '60's which featured US shows like Petticoat Junction and the Beverly HillBillies. Can't remember exactly when but I used to enjoy watching them. There were some other comedy shows within the comedy hour but I can't remember those titles. Hopefully someone on this site might recall the others?

Recalls Anglia TV (might not have been wholly networked ) not a full hour- US programmes I think were cut to longer commercial breaks at the time , running at about 22mins, UK ones ran for 25 mins per half hour.

Talking about old shows, this is about the only station that's ever on our TV these days http://metvnetwork.com/shows/
Otherwise it's tapes or DVD's of the old shows. (And for our UK friends, I have the complete set of tapes from Canal Video of every episode of "The Avengers" that had Dame Diana Rigg in it.)
Mum has freesat and in UK quite a few USA (viacom, etc) sourced channels are showing quite a few of those programs, along with The Avengers - all Steed Sidekicks.
Back to magazines there was a question if Reader's Digest was OK to add, I cannot remember the answer as I have just found a few 1950s ones.
