Мелодия and Melodia have both been added but are the same label, the first being written with the russian alphabet and the second the English.
can these be made a joint discography?

Also raises another question; do I add russian albums as they are written on the label or do I type them out into English? At the moment I've been adding some Russian Beatles LPs but been putting the titles in English. As that is how I would search for them on the site.

I myself would like to see them in English for obvious reasons, however the Russian collector would no doubt argue a strong case for cyrillic to be used.

Why not go for something like:

вчера [Yesterday]

adding the English title in square parentheses .

Likewise we could merge and rename the labels Melodia [Мелодия] or vice versa.

I faced a similar issue with this record:

Pathe 35500

It is an Indian pressing for the Chinese market by Pathé -- label being shown as 百代唱片.

When I entered it, I copied the Chinese characters from a website that had documented the record, and supplied the English text in parentheses.

Someone then linked it in with the main Pathé.

That seems a good way to handle things there.

In the case of Мелодия, I would have two distinct labels and base entries on what the actual label is. Do the titles as Cyrillic if they are shown that way, with the English title in parentheses.

Just a thought

Amy

All the Russian Melodia releases are clearly on Мелодия and should be changed.
However it should be possible to search in English for Melodia and be taken to the Russian label.
I'm sure there have been Export releases of classical music on "Melodia" in which case we will have to decide the country of release

FWIW I have some Melodiya albums (Well at least one I Have in my hot little hand) that were released in the US on Angel (and the spelling is with the "i" on the label and sleeve)

It's actually got the i and the y in it - Melodiya.

Мелодия or Melodia no difference. important one directory and there was no tangles . Official translation correctly created by the firm and print records - "Melodiya".
I think so it will be better to write in English
