Hey Mods, am I wasting my time linking albums? The credit info seems wonky or entirely missing. I really don't care much if my 'handle' is on the list of credits but often it's another contributor's name even though I just did it. This is nothing new, either. I've experienced this on all worlds and mentioned it a number of times. Please be assured that I am a team player and only want our site to be the best it can be. I'd just like assurance that the system is functioning properly. ~thanks

I never knew there was a bug there. Let me investigate.

Could it be that if you are linking a release to others (two or more) that are already linked together, then then original "linker" of those first two gets credited?

I have seen 'link credits' when there are no visible links on the page. I have seen linked images and no mention on the credit page. I have changed the credits by refreshing the page, and I've added linked items that were already there; the program allowing me to go through the process without stopping me with the 'these items are already linked' message. I'm no techie. If no one else is mentioning it maybe it's only on my end for some reason. If the bosses see nothing wrong then I guess it's just a 'thing' that happens.

Give OC a little time to investigate. This hasn't been reported before, either on the forums or by mods (and believe me, we mods are always giving OC more problems to investigate). So it's likely to be buried deep in the techie aspects of the site.
I don't know for certain, but maybe some of the linking problems you've mentioned could be due to multiple entries using a slightly different form of the artist name. We mods often come across these by chance. I recently entered a UK LP, and found that other entries in other countries of the same record had a complete spider's web of linkages, which took a while to sort out, and I'm still working on getting it completely sorted so it can't happen again. This requires renaming the artist so all names are the same, removing links, adding links, removing alternative names, adding those alternative names back in again, and finally deleting all the unused names. It ain't simple, so sorry in advance if its something a mod has done accidently! I had a fight a couple of weeks back with a name like 'Fred and The Flintstones'. As well as the usual 'Fred with The Flintstones' etc. variations, somebody had entered it with two spaces between 'and' and 'The'. Took me an age to find it

What you were seeing is the after-effects of a bug that was fixed a while ago. All added releases should have been fully credited for a while now. However the way the information is presented is perhaps a bit confusing; it only shows who actually linked an individual release to a master release, not the total of all the people who linked to the master release. Yes it's confusing. It might be better to remove this information if it's not helpful.
It wasn't possible to properly create a credit system for linked releases, and the current system was misleading so it's been removed.
Instead, linked releases now counted as "Item Edits" on your "My Page". This is used in the points calculation, so members who have been adding lots of linked releases will see an increase in their points over the next few days.
