I'd love to see this feature, because it will allow us to show releases that were 45 rpm in their country of origin that had highly sought after 78s elsewhere, such as US 45s that had no 78 there, but a 78 in Canada or the UK.

I just watched a lot of videos that BigBadBluesMan linked for Junior Wells, and wondered if there were 78s of his, but there were none (yet) on site, but had to go to 45Cat to find the singles with an individual search.
Knowing that there's absurd money in blues 78s, I held out no hope really anyway, but then it occurred that for this reason, many may seek the cheaper alternatives on 45 for other artists too.
Elvis springs to mind here, as his Sun 78s and Sun 45s are often considered a set for collectors (with the cash to do so :)) and it would be nice just to click through from either side and see the equivalent release (and indeed, If it had one).
It seems there are a few 45cat members who aren't really active in 45worlds yet, or maybe just don't care for it if their tastes don't run beyond the 7 inch format, but it strikes me that many may be brought over through this, as it does touch their interest.
How would it go??? The links at the bottom of the 45 page are other country's versions of the exact same pairing....people already don't like mono versions being linked with stereo. So do we need another box away from those links??

Well taking the Sun Presleys as an example, the link for the 78 equivalent would appear in notes for the 45's entry on cat, as in: "Also released as a 78" (with the 78 text a highlighted link to the 78, and likewise the appropriate text in notes of the 78 for the 45.
Same thing as happens with the Beatles releases, when there's more than one press or issue, the notes feature the links to those entries.
maybe a function could be added just for this in the entry page itself in future, but that would seem the logical place to start.
(Perhaps start with a bite sized test of the Elvis Sun entries themselves, as there's only a couple, and see what people think... then all the Sun catalogue etc.)
I like the idea of cross-integration but it makes a special case of 78s. Why would a 7-inch single not equally want an "also released on cassette" or "on CD" etc?
There are plans to add a feature that lets you link items between worlds. However this is some way off, because there is other work with higher priority. But you are welcome to add links using the comments feature in the meantime.

A links feature would be good: meanwhile most of the major-artist discographies are being linked between Worlds
All members can help if they would like to see any particular artist linked: just post in the forums, preferably listing all the formats that have entries

Just mods I think.
If people feel it works with the Presleys, then it could be tentatively extended to encompass appropriate groups of 78s and 45s... the Sun discography, then maybe other labels, an artist at a time.

I just thought that 78s and 45s are the natural (and easiest) place to start.
Looking at those SunElves, the cat and everything is the same, only the size and speed have been changed to protect the innocent.
Presumably those listening to the 7" discs would only hear Mr Presley's singing from above the waist .. those listening to the 78s would hear him hips-n-all .... :)

Maybe that's the real reason for the record industry changing from 78s to 45s... it was wearing Elvis out gyrating at that speed!
