Who wants a copy of a 16-year-old compilation album? Quite a lot of us, it seems.
Sales of Now That's What I Call Music 48 surged last week, after the double CD ("featuring 41 top chart hits!") provided the soundtrack to the BBC sitcom Peter Kay's Car Share.
It even entered Amazon's compilation chart, despite being out of print, on the strength of second-hand sales.
Prices shot up too, rising from as little as 11p to more than £20.
Rather cool actually -- one of the better ones before they started to suck

I have my own title for such compilations . . . You Call That Music?!
A few years back I was able to obtain (via a snudge snudge wink wink download) volumes 1 to 75.
They tell a dramatic story of the decline in quality over the course of almost 30 years in the quality of 'hit' records. While an early one, up to about number 25 or so, a listenable in their entirety, you then start to get to ones where less than half of the tracks are palatable, and then toward the end where none of them are.

The earliest I can seem to find these days is around the 35 mark for CDs...
...but the vinyl has dried up entirely, even the very early ones, which used to be almost in as much abundance as dear old Klaus Wunder-bra, or James (first) Last (my everything ).
The odd cassette turns up now and then, but there is no doubt these are being hovered up at a rate of knots!

I probably have access to obscure charity shops in strange places, if anyone has wants, PM me and for the cost of item and petrol I might be of a crazed mind to visit the one at the top of the road and plough through the LP boxes etc one Sat afternoon.
On collecting note I see the ' Now, Thats What I Call' expanded into some genres of music as well as sequential 'hits' type ones.

Can somebody add NTWICM 71 , as I have picked up a CD-RW that has the tracks for this. Where do the images windoze finds for these come from - embedded track info or an auto web search?
thanks , I hope the points system recognises the darned complexity of adding these beasts
Oh, other than lists, is there a way one can see if one has all of a series, or if a member has a complete series, or which members have complete series ?!
