Hi,
I'm in NZ and I have just find an old LP acetate of TWINKLE (no label, no ref) with the following track list:
SIDE 1
THE BOY OF MY DREAM
TOMMY
POOR OLD JOHNY
A LONELY SINGING DOLL
UNHAPPY BOY
SIDE2
TERRY
SO SAD
I NEED YOUR HAND IN MINE
AIN’T NOBODY HOME BUT ME
GOLDEN LIGHTS
As Twinkle only made 7' (before the recent lps) does anybody here can give me some info or ideas about this one? or give me a contact where I could search for info about it?
thanks a lot

The 'recent LPs' are more likely to be CDs. According to Wikipedia she did make one LP titled 'Little Star' which would have been on Decca, but I wasn't able to locate a track list.
It could ether be an acetate of an actual album, released or not, or it could be something made for personal use by someone in the studio. Looking at the tracks on the acetate, all of them were commercially released at various times, so I would tend to think the latter.
If you could scan and post it up to the site, that would be great, and may also attract some more info.

Yes, I think you're right - it would have been perfectly possible to make a recording of all her singles and put it onto one disc using the disc-making service offered using something like emidisc blanks. I've seen a number of these in the past and they weren't necessarily done by a studio where the artists were recording. Instead it was a service offered to anyone to make a record from other records or tapes.
Looking at the dates of the originals this could have been done any time after about 1965.
|Just a thought about the disc-making service scenario - which for now is the most likely, we would have had the tracklisting mostly following the 7'...(which is not):
It is hard to believe someone making his own tracklisting from the 7' collections if he just wanted to hear them on a LP no?
here are some pictures, of the 'original' cover (with a small newspaper cut) and writings. and of the acetate...On side 2, the only ref on the acetate

Can't see them; Photobucket have a reputation for trying to screw money out of users by forcing them into 'upgrading' their accounts in order to get anything to show at all.
Including pictures which have been hosted on third party websites for years - suddenly snatched away unless the user pays Photobucket a few hudred bucks. Some call it ransomware...
There's nothing much to go on. It's privately made - we know not why. It's something people would do (if they had access to the gear) before cassettes or CD burners, and as with those technologies, it could be in-studio, fan-made, or for some practical purpose, eg to give to someone in the business.
Unless someone can glean something from the physical dics, which might give an indication of where it originated, it's impossible to know. Two play holes is curious though.

I have had the same problem with some of my 45rpm acetates, have spoken to two from IBC studios, but their memory not that good, even try to contact Barry Gibb (fat chance of that) for information.
Ref: holes in acetates, all the acetates I got from IBC studios do not have any extra holes in them, be it 45rpm or 33rpm. The lath in the video is completely different to the one I saw on my visit to IBC studio.

twinned holed acetates were an american standard from early days of records, as the video demonstrates one the holes is for a holding pin - this ensures the discs dont slip when they are being carved.
Phil Soloman passed away just a couple of years ago in Bournemouth actually, he was 91 [roughly].
The circumstances of Twinkle's career are bit vague, with "retirement" at 18, but she came back later on. Its not inconceivable to me that Decca or her management may have planned an album. I think you have an original 60's disc there, its all Decca material and the lettering on the disc is done in that waxy crayon. I have had here some 7" acetates with exact same kind of notation on them. Its looks to me like a genuine album tryout.
